Ulcer's can be serious, but their is medication for it and sometimes they make

you eat baby food for awhile so to give the lining of your stomach time to heal.

Does it bother you after you eat spicey or hot foods?

Ann also had a suggestion in one of her posts to you. Doesn't hurt to get both

checked out.

Keep smiling.

That's good about the one subject, just remember this though and I think it will

help you a lot. Take one hour each day, just for you. No studying or anything.

Just use that hour to relax and clear your mind. I do it a lot at night right

before bed and I find I sleep a lot better. I read a magazine or get the photo

album out and just take the time to non-stressful stuff. Sometimes I get so

wrapped up into what i am doing it stretches to 2 hours and I sometimes forget

that my knee hurts. lol

You time is important so you have a chance to clear your head.

Keep smiling,

Mark

This could indicate an ulcer, an acid stomach, AND even IBS. When I had IBS, I

found that just eating could calm it down, because it would start peristalsis in

the whole digestive tract. IBS is a condition in which your intestines go into

a spasm. Peristalsis is trying to force the digesting food (small intestine) or

digestive by-products (large intestine) through the intestine where it's

spasmed, and it hurts. But sometimes when you eat, the whole thing relaxes like

it's supposed to and peristalsis can work.

Comfort from hot foods more indicates a problem in your stomach, either an ulcer

or excessive acid.

Another possibility for stomach pain is hiatal hernia. To get technical for a

moment, the esophagus goes through the diaphragm before it meets the stomach.

In some people, either the diaphragm around the esophagus isn't totally sealed

(BTW this is frequent in babies and could be the cause of colic), or else the

lower esophageal sphincter (the one where the esophagus meets the stomach) is

too relaxed, and a full stomach or gas in the intestines pushing up on the

stomach can actually push the stomach up so that the esophagus sticks down into

the stomach. In the case where there's a " hole " (weak spot) in the seal between

esophagus and diaphragm, after you eat, and esp. if you're sitting down (upward

pressure on the stomach), a little pocket of stomach can get force up through

that hole & get pinched. In either case it hurts like hell. The pain is

localized and is located just below the sternum. I have this problem, have had

it since I was a teenager. Usually in the latter case you get reflux too.

A hiatal hernia attack can sometimes be ended if you stand up & take a very

large breath and hold it. This forces the diaphragm down & allows the esophagus

to retreat back to where it belongs. You may have to do this several times.

Jumping up & down can help by causing gas in the stomach to burp up. It helps

to take a walk after eating to get the stomach contents moved down. Snacking a

lot before bed can bring on an attack.

In your case, I suspect pre-ulcer or ulcer caused by stress, or IBS caused by

stress.

I am not a doctor.

I'd wait on the exam. You sounds so much more relaxed now that you've dropped

that one course. Why go back to Stressville? You have plenty of time in your

life to take care of that exam. I understand your desire to finish up, get it

all out of the way, etc. But you don't want to make yourself sick.

Re: More abt me.to mark

hihi, thank you for that advice. erm, well, now i bascially dun do

anything at all... just sleep and sleep, then surf a bit of net.

check my mails.so.. i dunno... school is starting soon. now i am a

bit looking forward to it.. i mean which one subject off now. feel so

relieved. i was frantically trying to catch up and i couldnt.. adds

lots of stress.. but, i dunno whether i should sit for the exam. i

mean... having just come out of all stress now... and not really

fully recovered.. i am afraid if i go in there and have nothing to

write.. it will just lower my self esteem even further... just like

sec 3 when i blanked out, i lost all confidence in myself and been

failing all geog test ever since. so i am quite afraid... like i

said, i have exam phobia.

luckily i dropped that subject, that means that the arrangement of

classrooms and lecture theatre will not affect a lot of pple. cos i

am taking a very odd combination and there are very few pple taking.

so, damage done will be minimal.

yeah, and i just woke up. dreamt my psychiatrist was frantically

teaching me economics *the subject i dropped*. goodness.. even in

dreams they will not let me off..

sigh..
