Guest guest
I was diagnosed about a year ago with cp. I have gone through 2 pt regimens from 2 different pt's. I have had 2 sets of x-rays and an mri that have shown nothing wrong. My orthopedist has put it to me that it is a quality of life issue at this point. If I am comfortable with the lifestyle I can lead, then no arthroscopy, if not, then surgery can be next. I am not comfortable with the current situation, so I am leaning toward the surgery. Any opinions??? Thanks
Guest guest
for everyone it is different, I chose to have the scope to find out the extent of damage, I'm glad I did because in the long run it does feel better. Guest guest
CP doesn't always show up on MRI. One thing you could do is agree to an exploratory arthroscopy. Look back over the archives here. There's a lot of info. How old are you, and what level of activity can you do? Ann treatment choices... I was diagnosed about a year ago with cp. Guest guest
Thanks, I'm 41 and if I don't engage in activities that aggravate it, i'm fine walking, stationary cycling and using the eliptical machine. It hurts too much to continue playing tennis and I gave up on running when I was first diagnosed. It has even started hurting when I surf, to the point that it negatively effects that activity. The surgery I am considering is exploratory arthroscopy...my doc said that even in the absence of anything on the x-rays and mri, sometimes there is something they find and can clean/smooth. He has been very up front with me in saying that the surgery is not a sure thing. thanks for the input > CP doesn't always show up on MRI. > > One thing you could do is agree to an exploratory arthroscopy. > > Look back over the archives here. Guest guest
Good luck to both of us. We're sort of in the same position, except that I can only walk a couple of blocks before my knee starts hurting, and after 1/2 mile I can hardly walk. Can't dance, hike. I do seem to be able to use the exercycle for 15 but only at about 11 mph, which isn't aerobic. Faster than that & I get an attack of pain for several days. Guest guest
the more i research, the more i discover that there are many forms/severity of this problem. This makes treatment very difficult because everyone's situation is so different. Re: treatment choices... Good luck to both of us.
