Guest guest
Did anyone mention plantar fasciitis? Ann Orthodics, Over-Pronating, High Arches My physical therapist sent me to a poditrist to get orthodics made. I also have a lot of pain in my arches as well (the opposite foot from the worse knee, however.) I can't wear flip-flops, ever, as they pull the arch more than anything. I was wondering if anyone else has similar problems? Anything I stick in a sneaker or traditional shoe helps a lot on my feet and a bit on my knee, but I mostly wear sandals. I've got something now that kinda works, but it wraps around my heel to stay in place. All I really need is something to support my high arch only, the balls of my feet and my heel are fine. Does anyone else have pain like this?
Guest guest
Yes, I have had a lot of problems with my arches, including plantar fasciitis. Let me tell you, that is almost as painful as CP. If I do anything stressful, I always put a pair of these in my shoes, about $20/pair; http://www.spenco.com/prod_footcare_greenarsup.html They work better for me than a custom made $400 pair made for me about 15 years ago. Guest guest
Hmmm... I haven't heard of plantar fascitis. Since I'm taking the holiday vacation, I don't go back to the poditrist until next week. I'll look that up on the net & ask. I'm hoping my insurance covers the orthodics. But what I really want is something for my arch only. Skin toned to blend, so that I can wear it with sandals/heels and it would be almost un-noticeable unless you were staring. There's got to be something out there like that, something that I could kinda stick onto my arch, like wedge shaped & cushion-y or just a firm, plastic curve like the one I have now, but that goes over my heel, too. If not, I can make something. And I'll pass them along to other girls like me > Yes, I have had a lot of problems with my arches, including plantar > fasciitis. Guest guest
Doesn't Dr. Scholl's make a ( " white " ) skin-colored arch support? Not sure it would be 'invisible " , though. Guest guest
Yes, have had foot problems, high arches you mentioned, and pronating. The podiatrist really helped out with the orthodics. About insurance coverage, you should be able to find out if they will or won't be covered, here's hoping they are covered for you. I'm pretty much stuck in tennis shoes, and don't get to wear the pretty sandles. It would be nice to be able to wear sandle, but right now I'm settled on being more pain free in the tennis shoes. If you do find something that gives the support I would love to hear about it too! Connie
Guest guest
I'm stuck in tennis shoes, too. If I wear low sandals, my gastrocnemius and Achilles tendon get stretched (I'm sure that's good for them, but not so much all at once) and if I wear higher heels, all my weight (including the extra 30 lb) gets pushed onto the balls of my feet, which I already have a problem with, and my toes get scrunched. I can't even wear closed-toed shoes any more. I can wear open-toed backless slip-ons but can't walk very far in them before all the above plus the muscles in my legs & hips that aren't used to walking like that start complaining. So much for looking sexy. A. Re: Orthodics, Over-Pronating, High Arches Yes, have had foot problems, high arches you mentioned, and pronating. The podiatrist really helped out with the orthodics. Guest guest
Thanks, I'll try these, too. I'm using something like that now in a nude color which I'm depending on more and more. The regular cushy kind from drugstores don't work as I found out painfully hours after my hike yesterday when my foot charley-horsed all evening. I have to find a way to glue the arch to me or my shoe so I can continue to wear sandals! Right now, they kinda slosh around, esp. if it rains. > Yes, I have had a lot of problems with my arches, including plantar > fasciitis. Let me tell you, that is almost as painful as CP. Guest guest
Ok, hmmm.. try that too. I'll have to look around more. Guest guest
I think those soft insoles & arch supports are for standing. The ;problem with walking in them is they give TOO much, sort of become Birkenstocks. OTOH, we all like to land softly on our heels. The one pair of professional orthotics I had (mid-90s) was really hard in the heel. I didn't like them.
