Guest guest
Perhaps it might stir their stumps if you told them that there could be a decent market in the uk for this and related books, which as we are in this recent situation with them might be needed by our medics in the not too distant future? Just a suggestion. Guest guest
My copy has just arrived and my initial reaction is one of dissapointment. I have not read the content but the style of the book is that it has got two metal rings like a ring binder rather than a traditional bound book. The rings are on the top edge as well, rather than the left side. Probably fine for the classroom as the book lies flat, not sure if the rings would lead to more wear n tear if used out in the field, the paper does look quite strong. Looking through the list of chapters, there are certainly subjects and ailments that you do not see in many other textbooks so I would imagine that Remote Medics would certainly find it a usefull tool. In the USA it sells for $49.00, not sure that the UK £ price will be yet. Its quite a heavy book so I will have to have a look at the shipping charges etc. Best wishes Bray Managing Director SP Services (UK) Ltd * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Don't forget to visit our website at http://www.spservices.co.uk * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Special Forces Operations Medical Handbook >> >> >>Hi All, >> >>Looks like we may be some time in reviewing the above book, >> >>I ordered it on Sept 11th from Amazon, and I've just been noified of >>additional delays expected delivery is now 1 Jan ! >> >>Best wishes >> >>ian >> >>__________________________________________ >>Ian Sharpe >>International SOS Paramedic >>AGIP Kco Marine Supply Base >>Bautino, Republic of Kazakhstan >>Tel: +31 70 313 3655 / 3690 (Clinic/ Accommodation) >>-------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>Personal Mail to Ian@... >> >> >> >>Member Information: >> >>List owner: Ian Sharpe Owner@... >>Editor: Ross Boardman Editor@... >> >>Post message: egroups >>Subscribe: -subscribeegroups >>Unsubscribe: -unsubscribeegroups >> >>Thank you for supporting Remote Medics Online. >> >> >> >> >>

Guest guest
Balaclava's for special forces work or any work in the field? To hell with that I would rather keep my ears uncovered and stay alive, which is also why you don't put the hood on the smock up in the field. Basic rule of survival use all your senses, become like an animal, use the cat as an example to study (as Reg Lingham of 22 once advised me) and you will live longer. No special forces man or infantryman worth a damn would ever cover his ears, it is the first and last sense, even when you are wounded and in shock you can hear even if you cannot move or see properly. having read a number of the manuals on the CD mentioned in hard copy, most are of interest if you are into that kind of reading but usually out of date some are actually obsolete. All US Army medics are being upgraded to MOS 91W from 91B which is medic to EMT standard, so the lower level of care is disappearing. You are better off reading current emergency medical manuals and if you have to do field work adapting the techniques to the skills and kit you already have which I am sure are considerable on this list. There are also Combat Lifesaver levels now below EMT which have a seperate course reading material to any of those on the CD. most of you are above that level anyway. All the best JC RE: Special Forces Operations Medical Handbo >>ok >>Date: Mon, 5 Nov 2001 13:58:34 -0000 >> >>when I was living in aldershot, there was a real good military book shop a >>couple of doors up from de boras.... Guest guest
Totally agree, it's a pity they aren't armed better, I am glad I am not heading for Afghanistan with an SA80 A1 or A2 model, our boys deserve at least a Diemaco version of the M16,can anyone tell me how the hell you are supposed to cock, select and use the safety on an SA80 if you are wounded in the left arm, you could with an SLR and an M16, we used to practice one hand drills, you cannot even shoot the SA80 from the left shoulder, why the hell have we spent so much money on that rubbish when our whole armed forces could have been equipped with M16's for a lot less cash? If our people are all special why not equip them properly?
