Sounds like the orthotics are helping you a lot. Maybe over time, after your

body adjusts to the new alignment, you'll be " cured " . I hope so. I've been

afraid to get orthotics because of the cost and because I didn't know they could

be adjusted. Sounds like you've got a doc who really knows what he's doing

(AND willing to spend the time to do it!).

cortisone and orthodics?

hi ruby I realize that the shot won't cure me but mayby I can get

some relief for a while untill it settles down. Finding the answer

would help too as to why I have swelling on knee still.Boy did my

knee hurt last night. We also had a big storm, severe watch and all

I wonder if that had anything to do with it.??The orthodics are

good. I've had mine for several years due to pain in foot and the

ball of foot killing me. They are expensive and I don't think my

insurance paid for it either. Blue cross. thanks for your help, if

you know anything else let me know. lin

I got a set of orthotics from a podiatrist 15 years ago when I broke my

right foot. If my memory serves, they cost around $400. I quit wearing

them after about a year because they were too uncomfortable. However I

found a company (Spenco) who makes commercially available orthotics that I

have been very happy with and have used for years now. My last set cost $21

and may be an option some may want to try. I can only find them at the

largest drug store in our area.

My " home-made " orthotics consist of a good, impact-absorbing insole with a

slight arch support, and one heel lift (for my shorter leg). Have no idea

whether it helps (except I know it helps with the impact), but can't afford real

orthotics.

Thanks. It's Spenco that I've been using.
