What about laminating them yourself with a small Xyron machine? They aren't

expensive ($60-$100)for what you get. They are hand cranked so no batteries,

etc and they can make laminated on one side, adhesive on the other;

laminated on both sides and, my personal favorite, laminated on one side,

magnetized on the other.

Short of getting a laser printer or paying set-up fees plus run fees, that

is the only way I know to get waterproof labels.

I was as the costmetic show in Miami last March and got the catalog

from a company that does labels. They seem to do short run labels

and the samples I got were really nice. Their web address is

www.blu-rbn.com. The company name is Blue Ribbon Tag & Label corp.

Hollywood, FL. Their 800 number is 800-433-4974.

I print my labels on transparency, then stick it down with DC fix (transparent

How about trying a laser printer. I know they don't do color (at least the

affordable ones) but you could have some labels printed at a print shop with

your color logo (something you could use for everything you make) then you

could send them through a laser printer at home to print the

name/ingredients in black and white on those. We bought a laser printer

about 5 years ago for about $350-- don't know what they would be now but

probably around there.

Anyway just a thought.

We got one of these machines last year, for this very reason. And while

they are waterproof up to a point - because we find that after a time in

the shower the protective cover peels off - we also found that it makes

the labels so stiff that they start to peel off of the bottles. They

aren't flexible enough, and the sides start popping off. Now we just

bought some waterproof labels from Stuff Likes, so we will see how

those go.

Best wishes-

I've been printing my lotion bar labels on a color ink-jet printer and

them spraying them with an acrylic spray to waterproof. Results have

been okay, but after a while, the ink can get smudgey.

Last year, I checked with a local printer, and now, for pennies a sheet

(I get 15 oval labels per page), he runs them through his machine to put

down a layer of varnish to waterproof. Much more time efficient, and the

results are definitely worth the expense. This increased my

cost-of-goods by less than a penny per lotion bar.

I try to plan ahead and take him batches of about a hundred sheets or so

at a time; that way, I always have finished labels on hand, but not so

many that if I decide to make a change in my labeling info, that I'm

stuck with out-of-date labels.

Hope this is helpful to someone!

hi rebecca,

I do my labels with MS Publisher and then save them on disk or cd and bring them

to office max. they digitally print them in color at about .80 to $1.00 per

page. i have them printed on full page (uncut) white label paper. i kiss-cut

them myself with an xacto knife so they peel off with the back in tact. they are

completely waterproof and superhigh resolution. email me if you need more info

or a source for label paper.
