I went to the MDA clinic and they recommended me to be fitted for AFOs because

of my very weak ankles and I kept spraining them and tearing ligaments. My

regular doctor also referred me to an Orthotist to be fitted for them. I

wouldn't just buy them online because they need to fit properly and the

orthotist will cast her foot and make it so it is a good fit. Also you may

want to check with your insurance company and see if they can refer you to

one in their network or you may go to an MDA clinic and they will pay up to

$2000 every 5 years for durable medical goods. If you have any questions, feel

free to email me back.

You must have a prescription from a doctor. The script is then taken to an

orthotist who builds the brace(AFO)and fits it. It really helps if the

doctor really understands CMT, as well as the orthotist.

I love mine, I am very active, work a somewhat physical job, crew for a local

stock car racer. You know, " Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! " But I

don't think I'd be working much without them.
