Guest guest
Hi all I think that i might have killed my water kefir grains, or at least they look like they are dying The batch of kefir that I made last seemed to ferment really really well, even better than the previous batches...so for eg in the 12-24 hour period I could see lots of fermentation going on and the kefir getting bigger and multiplying. I left it for another day as I wanted to make sure that all the sugar had gone, as I'm really sensitive to sugar, but on the 2nd day, the activity seemed less. Also again, I had a lot of yeast on the top so I had to skim the yeast off a couple of times. I drained the kefir at about 20hrs. The kefir itself seems absolutely fine, but the grains have decreased quite a lot in size and there are fewer of them. I did exactly the same procedure for the previous 2-3 batches....used the same mineral water, plus about 250mls of hemp milk, plus sugar. Last night I put the grains in water and sugar again to make a new batch but this morning it looks like there is no fermentation going on at all and the grains dont look like they are growing at all. So I fear that they might be dying, or are dead. Is that what it sounds like and I am wondering how to revive them. I wonder what I have done wrong aswell, any ideas?
