Arsenic is natural, but not very good for you. Same for

petroleum. That something is " natural " doesn't really mean

anything good, per se.

If it has no carbohydrate, then the insulin will convert

cholesteral to fat the same as with aspartame. Cholesteral, the

bad kind, is produced by your cells in response to cellular

dehydration, which can exist even if you drink water, but

absolutely does if you don't drink your 8 glasses a day and at

the right times. Anyone with a cholesteral problem is cellularly

dehydrated.

Dear Jim,

I understood that cholesterol was produced by the liver. Got any info I

And it wouldn't be a bad idea to drink one or two glasses

upon arising to hydrate the body, and another 2-4 ounces

every 30 minutes to keep the body saturated. You got it right on

the meals though. A little water before a meal aids digestion, but

too much during or afterward hinders it.

Moria,

Agreed. But, I never meant to say it was " artificial " when I

referred to it with the generic term " artificial sweetener. " In

this context, it is, IMO, an artificial sweetener, since it is a

substitute for sugar, the world standard sweetener.

I also like to remind people when they make the point to me that

you just did, that arsenic, strychhnine, prussic acid, carbolic

acid, formaldehyde, etc., etc., etc. are all natural & organic.

So is death. Terms such as natural & organic are an understanding

amongst people, but they have no real definition. They are

context-sensitive words.

We can argue about angels on the head of a pin, but people don't

use stevia because it is their favorite sweetener in the world.

They use it because it is a seemingly viable substitute for

common sugar. It is not sugar, so I call it an " artificial "

sweetener.

I will not say stevia has no beneficial properties, since I

understand it has. But, that is still not a justifiable reason,

IMO, for a pernicious habit like a sweet tooth.

Please don't take this personally, because I am answering all of

the people who have attempted to justify to me why their sugar

habit is " OK, " " not bad " or any euphemistic name one wishes to

give it. I read books like " Sugar Blues " over 40 years ago, and

there is ample documentation in the intervening decades that

constant sugar consumption causes disease.

Don't y'all blame me. I didn't design the human body. But, I damn

sure know some of the things that make it sick. And, sugar is a

major culprit. Anybody who has real health problems and adds

sugar to anything on a regular basis is saying, " The Emperor is

fashionably dressed. " I like sugar too, but I don't have any in

the house.

Personally, I like to drink beer. I do drink it. But, I don't try

to convince anyone, or myself, that it is good for me. It is a

poison I choose to tolerate, and I say so. I just wish

sugar-junkies (and you know who you are) were as forthright.

Your definition would make honey an artificial sweetener.

I don't think so.

Hi, my name is Juilie & I am a sugar addict. Yes, it's true, once I

start eating some, stopping the sweet cravings is almost impossible.

eating sugar puts me on an emotional roller coaster. I have candida

and quitting sugar must be harder than quitting heroin, imo. It is

also my opinion that eating stevia or other substitute, though

healthier than sugar, still keeps the cravings going full strength.

Thank you for making one of the more important points I was too

foggy-headed to think of. I am semi brain-dead today because I

made my own sugar last night from the beer I drank at the party.

You said in your opinionstevia just makes the sugar cravings keep going.

Have you used stevia?

It's my understanding from what little I've read that sugar itself,

because of the way its processed and the chemical composition of same,

is why the body has such a hard time getting off of it.

Maybe the stevia will be different?

Not so. Refined sugar strips important vitamins & minerals from

the body, but that is another issue. The problem with sweets is

not the source, but the concentration & quantity. All

concentrated sweets are problematical, even raw, unfiltered,

unpasteurized honey in a comb. ... if you eat too much. And, if

you eat more than a teaspoon or two of honey or sugar a day, it

is too much.

I have tried stevia, but not for long periods of time. In my

experience, it did not curb sugar cravings. I was told at one point

that stevia will be eaten by yeasts/bacteria/parasites because it is

sweet and yet they cannot metabolise it, thus starving them. However,

many others say this is not true. That's about all I know about

stevia.

Hi & Jim:

About this issue of being a sugar junkie, it is my understanding that certain

amount of glucose must be in the blood steam for this body to run.

So, it is a choice of where and how we get this sugar into out bodies, and

what levels we choose (need) to keep it at, and how it affects our state of

being.

Myself, I have not had refined sugar in YEARS. And I do have a very full

vegan diet with lots of fresh fruit, some dried fruits, and on occasion some

honey or Grade B maple syrup. So, is this not better than diet soda? Did

not nature put all these wonderful fruits, that are ripe and juciy, waiting

for us emontial balnced beings to come alon and eat them?

Also, Jules and Jim:

Stevia is an herb. The only way that our money controlled government will

allow this fine Health sweetener into the marketplace is under the heading of

an herb, and must be used in all food products as an herb. Why you ask? To

protect the strong are market share that those little blue and pink packets

filled with fake stuff that is patented so that these huge corporations can

fill their bank accounts while they bankrupt the health of all Americans, and

for that matter anywhere in the world " sugar free " or diet sodas are

consumed. And lets of not forget the long terms health problems that will

effect our unborn, future world population. The children will always pay the

highest price for this kind of tyranny.
