Guest guest
This won't harm your kefir grains but it might be a long time before that flavor works itself out of them. Guest guest
But putting garlic or onion into the kefir mix may be a useful experimental tool, like a radioactive dye that a cancer patient might drink. The garlic smell might tell us something about how fast the grains turn over or what the half-life of the grains are. I won't be doing this experiment. I need my kefir too badly. and Katrina Bird's Incredibly Lucky Daddy From: marilynjarz@... Guest guest
Turns out it was garlic, not onion. I mentioned it to the girl and she said, Oh my mom fed the goats the green tops of the garlic plants. Like , I need my kefir, so I am choking it down anyway while holding my breath. Hopefully the new bottle is okay--we'll see. In the meantime I treated myself to a quart of store bought cow milk so I get to do the creamy cow vs. runny goat kefir experiment. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing the results of the onion/garlic & sticking with it though to probable " solution " of the kefir off-flavor problem. Joyce Simmerman
