Guest guest
Hi, I live in New Jersey. Does anyone have Japanese Water Kefir Grains they can spare and send me? I will pay for the cost to ship them to me. My grains I received in May of this year have shrunk down to nothing. I don't know why. I have followed Marilyn's instructions. Maybe I need to feed them more or it's the heat? Could someone let me know if they have any? Other wise I will have to ask Marilyn for a batch again. Thank you, Theresa
Guest guest
I had the same experience. I just ordered new ones from another source to run a comparison test. It didn't get too hot and I kept it fed, etc. even doing the coconut milk feed and it still made kefir water fine but they kept shrinking until they were basically no more. Strange. Guest guest
Devra and Theresa, What are Japanese Water Kefir Grains, and how are they different from regular water kefir grains? I know about the regular ones shrinking and how I brought mine back from the edge, but I'm not sure if Japanese ones are different. Please let me know. in Oregon ________________________________ From: Devra Waterman <devrawaterman@...> Sent: Friday, July 29, 2011 8:56 PM Subject: RE: Re: Would anyone share some Japanese Water Kefir grains? Guest guest
I think it might be the nitrogen in the leaves of the herbal tea bags that is helping water grains the most, more than minerals. What started me on this new tea thing is when I got my 22 spice blend and started using that in the water grains culture jar. They got huge in a short time. Then I thought of using tea bags. I like the zinger teas from Celestial Seasoning the best. Date: Saturday, July 30, 2011, 1:00 PM Â Hi Theresa, My grains went down to applesauce last spring. I used coconut water, blackstrap unsulphured molasses and dates to rejuvenate them. They seem to shrink if they don't have enough minerals. Marilyn has minerals you can add to your water. Other people boil eggshells and put them in the water with the grains. Sugar that is not refined much seems to work well too. Once again, it has trace minerals that the tibi grains seem to thrive on to get large grains. Sugars seem to enhance the numbers, minerals, the size of each individual grain. I hope you didn't toss your grains. They are living creatures and will revive if given the right stuff! I live in Montana, which may be too far away to send any this time of year, sorry! Good luck, Karin J. " My grains I received in May of this year have shrunk down to nothing. I don't know why.
