Guest guest
I bought water kefir grains from someone off of amazon about 6 months ago. I use approx 1 quart of distilled water with 1/3 cup of organic brown sugar. I leave the top of jar open with only a cheese cloth covering the top. I let the jar sit in a dark place for 3-4 days so it can ferment. Every I get a finished batch of kefir, it always taste kinds tart, so I am assuming that it is working. However, after nearly 6 months, my grains have not multiplied. Instead, all I end up with is something that resembles a blood cloth that floats atop of the mason jar( the color is brown, just like the kefir water). Do you think that my grains are bad?
