Guest guest
Just wanted to say, " Hello! " I am a & I have been using water kefir grains for about a year & a 1/2 now. I tried milk kefir too but didn't want to keep using milk grains if I couldn't have a regular source of farm fresh milk, so I gave them to a friend. We moved recently so I was going to try & find some local fresh milk when we get settled a bit more; then I can get some grains back from my friend. I have been doing great w/brewing plain water kefir (water, sugar, raisins, baking soda, & raisins... sometimes a lemon slice or 2), but wanted to try some other flavors as well. I am enjoying reading your posts & I'm already learning so much.... thank you!! I read one post about putting an herbal tea bag in the jar... can you tell me about how to do that?? Do I just add sugar, water, an herbal tea bag, baking soda (for mineral replacement because I use RO water), & the grains?? What size jar do you use?? I usually use 6 C of water... so would 1 tea bag be enough?? Also, I have read about & have some friends that brew w/juice... I don't usually drink juice but I have a few cans of frozen on hand in case we need them for something. I was thinking about thawing a can but was wondering if it would be okay to leave the juice on the counter after it being frozen?? My friend uses bottled juice so she doesn't know what to do as far as juice that has already been cold. I found out about your group from someone I met via Freecycle when I gave her WKG. She is having fun experimenting w/her grains & we are going to compare notes . Anyway, thank you so much for letting me join & jump in here. a
