Hello all, I am new to this group, but I've had excellent results

with a certain brand of essential oils. The reason people have bad

reactions to most essential oils (EO) is because they're using an EO

which has be adulterated (cut with chemicals). Anything you place on

your skin is in your blood in two seconds. Most EO's being sold are

not pure therapeutic grade oils. The reason a seller of the oil warns

against using the oil on the skin or internally is because the oil

contains harmful chemicals. Which is also why the oil is so

inexpensive.

The brand of EO's that I use are 100% pure, organic, therapeutic

grade essential oil. The EO's are GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe)

which makes them safe to be applied to the skin and taken

internally. An excellent book on the safe use of EO's is Essential

Oils Desk Reference by Essential Science Publishing, 1-800-336-6308,

www.essentialscience.net. This book has a lot of informative and

detailed information on why the oils work, how they work, why some

oils don't work, and how to safely use the oils.

My experience using EO's is limited. However, in the short time I've

been using this brand of EO's I've experienced incredible results.

The first oil I used was lavender, pure lavender not the hybrid which

is what most lavender on the market is made from.

I used the lavender neat (undiluted) for my dogs' ear infection and

my cats' burn on her head. I applied the oil on the underside of my

dogs' ear twice a day for a week. After a week the foul smelling

residue in her ear was gone. Her ear was completely healed and pink

again.

My cat loves to sleep next to the space heater in the bathroom all

winter. Well, this one time she slept too close and burned a spot on

her head between her eye and ear. It looked like someone took a

cheese grater and rub her skin off. I applied lavender to the burn

(nothing else) twice a day for a week. After a week it healed

completely with no scab or scar. After a few weeks the hair grew

back.

Personally, I've used lavender, applied neat, to clear up all kinds

of zits and things on my skin. I've used it to cleanse and heal

small cuts and scraps. Some cuts heal while I'm sleeping and larger

ones take a week to heal. Lavender is an excellent anti-depressant.

I find that I'm in a much better mood at work when I apply it to my

forehead and back of neck just be starting work.

I use many EO's for all kinds of purposes on myself and my family. I

place a few drops of lemon EO and grapefruit EO in my spring water

everyday. Lemon is antiseptic, improves microcirculation, and immune

stimulant (increases white blood cells), improves memory and

relaxation. Grapefruit is excellent for detoxifying and fat

dissolving among other benefits.

My wife, who is a nurse, is now believer of EOs. A few weeks ago my

son had played with a girl who was sick with strep throat. On a

Monday they played at her house. On Tuesday she became sick and her

doctor did a rapid and overnight culture for strep. Both came back

positive. On Thursday around 1 AM my wife called me at work to tell

me that our son was burning up with fever and his ear is bright red

and painful.

I had the Essential Oils Desk Reference book with me so I looked up

strep throat and told her what to do. She rubbed peppermint oil neat

on the bottoms of his feet. She rubbed lavender oil neat on his

ears. She rubbed Exodus II, a blend of Cassia, Hyssop, incense,

Spikenard, Galbanum, Myrrh, Cinnamon Bark and Calamus in a carrier

base of Olive oil, diluted with pure Olive oil on his carotid

arteries (below his ear lobes along his neck). She rubbed Cinnamon

Bark diluted with pure Olive oil on his chest. She rubbed Clove oil

diluted with pure Olive oil on his back. In addition she sprayed a

blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and

Rosemary, with other ingredients, in his mouth.

By 4 AM his fever was gone and he was able to sleep. When I arrived

home around 11 AM, he was up and playing like usual. His ear was

still a little painful. My wife applied everything listed above to

him and we gave him some vitamins containing EOs and some vitamin C

(not the kind one can buy in a store). When I got up around 10 PM

Thursday my son was completely healthy with no ear pain. We repeated

everything again on Friday. On Saturday my wife wanted me to take my

son to his doctor for a checkup just in case. All I told the doctor

was that my son was exposed to a child who had strep throat. They

did a rapid and an overnight culture on my son. Both tests came back

negative!

I use EOs for all kinds of health issues. We are amazed everyday

with the results we see from using these EOs. We also use

toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner and deodorants that

contains EOs and with no harmful ingredients of any kind.

I do agree that using this brand of EO in the wrong way can have

harmful affects, like pouring EOs directly into a bath. EOs are not

water soluble so they float on the surface. The correct way to use

EOs in a bath is by mixing EOs with epsom salts first then pouring it

into the running water as the tub fills.

I know this is running long so I'm going to end it here, but using

EOs have greatly improved my life and the life of my family. I have

never been into a natural or organic lifestyle until just recently.

I am amazed at the change in my health in such a short time.

and ,

So where were you two when MY child was sick! :D Thanks for the info on

reference books. But did either of you say what brand of EOs you like to use?

I spoke to the person who sells Wyndmere and she assured me that, even

though the bottle does not say organic, they are organically produced and of

the utmost highest quality???

I predict that Young Living Oils and Amway, now known as Quickstar, will

be attacked by the government, probably the FTC, in July just like

Coral Calcium and SeaSilver were attacked last year.

They were both attacked by Barrett and Quackwatch in the spring

of last year. In the past week Dexter Yeager, a top Amway (Quickstar)

distributor and Quickstar were attacked in an hour long TV documentary.

The email below about Young Living contains two web pages from

Quackwatch. Quackwatch gets its money and direction from a PR firm in

Manhattan that in turn gets its money and direction from several drug

companies.

Years ago, I was a distributor for Young Living. My sponsor back then

is still a good friend.

She now makes over $20,000 a month in Young Living. I learned about

some of Young's past activities back then and quit having anything

to do with Young Living Oils.

Ann, I was thinking about doing this myself, and they are really pricy. There's

a lot of work involved, though it really would be nice--unless you plan on

selling your product, I'm not sure it pay itself off anytime soon.

What are these "essential oils"? I know them from cosmetic chemistry. They are often terpenoids which are put into fragrances.

Are you talking about EFA's? If so, great success in attention and speech. DHA is good for motor planning (apraxia/dyspraxia) EFA is excellent for speech. You can check out this online group run by a dear friend of mine You can email me privately if I can offer any assistance, all 3 of my children are doing exceptionally well with EFA supplementation (guessing this is what you mean by essential oils...) Nope, not aroma therapy. These are oils that have been used throughout the century to help with diseases. I have a best friend who is exceptionally knowledgeable about these and has seen some wonderful results for her ASD son. I can't use them for my boys because of sensory issues. They can't stand the oils on thejr skin. But if you need help email me privately and I will give her your contact information. She loves working with families using the oils. She is also one of my son's rescue angels and a huge blessing to me as a friend!

Hi Meri,

I'm a relative newbie but have a few answers for you.

I'm sure if I'm wrong another more experienced member

will correct me.

1. Heat the solid absolute enough to remove it from

the container. Place it in another larger container

and create a tincture by adding perfume alcohol

(enough to cover absolute blob.) Shake daily,

eventually most of the absolute will dissolve. This

may take awhile. (Mine are still tincturing and are

only partially dissolved.)

2. As far as I know there is no such thing as

heliotrope, freesia or amber essential oil. You can

buy Osmanthus absolute (again with the tincturing.) I

just bought some from Liberty Natual Products. You

can make a really great amber scent by combining

vanilla, benzoin and labdanum.

3. Neroli and Orange Blossom absolute smell very

different. While from the same plant (along with

petitgrain) orange blossom is much more a floral and

expensive.

p.s. you can buy Cocoa oil as well (not a solid-maybe

easier to work with.)

Hope this helps. Charna

Those are two I see listed in several perfumes, obviously not in

natural perfumes! Is there a way to mimic these with a natural blend?

For example, even though there is carnation absolute on the market, I

found a clever blend of black pepper (20 drops), ylang ylang (14

drops), clove (2 drops), and geranium (2 drops) that's supposed to

approximate the aroma.

I'm particularly interested in Freesia, or as the ingredient is list

" Dewy Freesia. " Of course, that won't be the only key to unlock if I

want to imitate , as there's the mysterious " White Wings Peony "

and " Cashmere Woods, " each of which sound like a brand name for a

perfume on it's own. (Grumble.) And why would they list " incense " as a

note? There's tons of fragrances of incense! That's like listing

" cologne " as a scent! (Double grumble.)

But...back to this topic. Any natural blend approximations of flowers

not available in absolute or EO?

We have found this to be a really super company - they have delivered quickly

and their prices seem good.

(We have been making our own creams from their ingredients - our latest is just

organic shea butter, jojoba oil and lavender - it's a bit waxy and needs working

in with the fingers a bit when its cold - but we like it and it's very

moisturising)

I hope you don't need any that were offered in the EO buy!

For soap, I choose the cheapest, within reason. EO University is good. I

love Florida Soap Supplies' Orange. WSP usually has good eo's. Does

Friendly Fumes carry EO's, or just FO's?

Hi Jeanine,

I usually order through Camden Grey. They're in Florida so shipping is pretty

quick. Prices seem reasonable and so does their shipping.
