Guest guest
Actually, I am trying to get rid of the Newmans Own Grape juice, the tart cherry, the date sugar, and the agave. I am looking for a sugar source that has plenty of minerals, but I have to use up stuff that we don't need any more. So it is actually a cost saving measure. (:->) So, I am a small spender, and proud of it. and Katrina Bird's Incredibly Lucky Daddy From: marilynjarz@... Guest guest
My WKG are growing but they are very small. People keep saying that theirs are taking over but that is not happening. (maybe a good thing). What can I do to get my WKG to get bigger? I use tap water but I let it set for days before I use it so the chlorine goes away. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Nadine
Guest guest
Nadine, Go to the Cultures for Health website and watch their video on making water kefir. I bought grains three different times and struggled with all the suggestions I read on the different kefir groups until I finally watched the Cultures for Health video. Since then my grains have grown and multiplied wonderfully. I have some grains the size of large marbles. Hope this helps, in Oregon ________________________________ From: nadinehanks23 <nadinehanks23@...> Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2011 3:08 PM Subject: WKG Â My WKG are growing but they are very small. Guest guest
Nadine, The only thing I can think of is whether your tap water is reducing its clorine content enough by letting it sit for several days. I boil my tap water and let it cool. Once I started doing this, my water kefir grains started to explode in growth. At the same time, I started supplementing them with liquid minerals. A true scientist would never have started two variables at the same time, so I cannot be for certain which of the two changes that I made caused them to be so prolific. I can say this though: I no longer use the liquid minerals but continue to boil tap water, and my grains continue to be VERY prolific. Try boiling your tap water, and let us know if any change happens. Sherre Vacek > > > > My WKG are growing but they are very small. Guest guest
Boiling doesn't remove chlorine from water. Instead, it concentrates it.
