Guest guest
Dear You-all, Here is an article, a definitive article, about raw milk safety: http://eon.businesswire.com/news/eon/20110802006374/en/fda/raw-milk/food-policy It is obvious from this article that the FDA is not working for you. The FDA is working for Big Dairy. I wonder what kind of incentives Big Dairy gives FDA officials to pursue this incredibly harmful policy. If this does not at least cause you to look kindly on libertarian political philosophy (i.e. Madisonian political philosophy), I don't know what else will. Congress gave the FDA (and probably other agencies) the power to make its own regulations. Congress couldn't keep up with all of the details of food and drug safety. This is understandable when you realize that we started off with 435 representatives, but our population has grown 100 times. Congress folks weren't supposed to be keeping an eye on us citizens, they are supposed to be keeping an eye on government. So I wonder how much bigger our federal government is now vs. how big it was in 1789. (Does anyone with an answer to that?) So, you might say, hey, what is so bad about giving the FDA the power to make regulations. Well, the founders wisely put the power to legislate in the hands of the legislative branch of government, not the executive branch, which the FDA is a part of. Transferring these legislative powers to the executive branch undermines the separation of powers. Madison went over and over this problem in the Federalist Papers. And so the FDA does whatever it feels like. And if it feels good to suppress raw milk because it feels good to have Big Dairy put money into their pockets, so be it. Sincerely, and Katrina Bird's Incredibly Lucky Daddy
