Guest guest
What determines the size of the water kefir grains? I make batches every 2-3 days and mine have become really small. I had given some grains to my roommate and she hasn't made any for months. She just showed me her grains that have been sitting in the fridge and her grains are twice the size of mine. So, I'm wondering how her grains, sitting in the cold with barely any sugar are growing while mine in good sugar and good water aren't growing. Does the size of the grain matter? I've noticed that I don't get any carbonation anymore. I've tried the second ferment in a locking top bottle with added sugar and I still don't get any carbonation. So I'm curious about that too. I noticed the other post about carbonation, but I am giving my grains a sugar source. Thanks for any advice on both situations.
