Guest guest
I have to disagree with getting a juicer, they take the fiber out of your fruit and vegetables. A much better choice would be a high powered blender like BlendTec, it juices and leaves in all that good natural fiber. As far as smoothies go, if you won't drink it it doesn't do you any good. I agree green smoothies can be hard to gulp down, so modify them. My daily smoothies go something like this (it may vary a little each day but not much): 8-12 ounces of kefir, spinach, a large carrot, an apple, a banana, grapes, flax seed oil, wheat germ - juice, then I add a large handful of frozen mixed berries and use the smoothie setting (I have a BlendTec). My daughter and I love it. I'll also add some swiss chard from the garden and young dandelion leaves that grow around my flowers (make sure no chemicals have been sprayed around it). If I'm out of spinach I will use salad greens, but the bulk of my smoothie is still fruit and will continue to be until I can adjust my taste to more vegetables. However, I am still getting raw food and natural fiber so figure I'm doing better than not having it at all. Although I have never eaten a lot of grapes, I have noticed that my smoothies taste better when I do have them and add them. If your health is such that you can't do all that fruit, then try a variety of different vegetables in varying amounts until you find what you like. I was using coconut milk or oat milk and yogurt until I discovered kefir, now my only liquid is the kefir. A low fat diet is just self-destructive. The body NEEDS fat desperately. And you cannot beat the fat in kefir. Taste-wise, I haven't done you any favors. Green smoothies are a little difficult to take. I also suggest that you get a juicer and use it. Juicing fruit is also a lot of fun and can make up for the damage that I have done to your cuisine by suggesting green smoothies.
