Adjustment Period for new grains

Hi, my name is Patty H. I am a new member and new to kefir. I have just

ordered milk kefir grains from Marilyn after making about a 1.5 cups of

pasteurized cow milk kefir per day using some grains I purchased on

Amazon...slow growing little buggers. Since Marilyn's grains are grown in

goat's milk, do I need to transition them to cow's milk in any special way, for

example half GM and half CM? I have never consumed either raw cow's or goat's

milk but know where to find it. I had to give one of my son's canned goat's

milk when he was a a baby and I can still remember the nasty smell (which may

have been because it was canned or on it's way out the other end). Advise and

opinions appreciated. Patty H

Hi Patty,

No need to transition to your new milk; just give them what you are going to

give them.

I know what you mean about the earthy flavor of canned goat milk. When goat

milk is heated the fat breaks down and causes that. Raw goat milk when

handled properly is sweet and good.
