Guest guest
Hi, I have read such conflicting info about drinking WK & kombucha if dealing candida/candidiasis. Some people say it is great for candida because of the probiotics; some say BAD because of the yeast, vinegar (in kombucha), & sugar... does anybody here have any advice?? I am looking for a safe, natural treatment for candidiasis. Thank you, a W

Guest guest
I would 'think' this would depend on how long it was fermented and how much sugar was left in the final product. I have friends who have emphatically stated that kombucha has helped their candida issues - again - I think it depends on how long you ferment and the amount of residual sugars you have left. Guest guest
Mine went away with milk kefir and water kefir, then I started on Kombucha and came back stronger, so I stoped the kombucha to see if it'll go away. > > <<Hi, I have read such conflicting info about drinking WK & kombucha if dealing candida/candidiasis. Guest guest
Hi, It's very difficult for bacteria and yeast to migrate from your gut to elsewhere in your body so I wouldn't worry too much about what you're eating affecting the infection. Some people have success using direct application to the area that is infected. Not to get into too much detail for the faint of heart (stop reading now if you are) but I've heard of dipping tampons in yogurt/kefir, or freezing small popsicles of yogurt/kefir for application, or using a dispenser such as those that are used in douches. You can also buy probiotic capsules to use in that area (similar to the ones you can buy for ingestion in natural food stores). It is definitely true that you want to avoid applying sugar to the area because yeast will feed on it. If you are worried about yeast you could also just stick with yogurt and not kefir for that sort of thing. Hope that helps, ~ > > Hi, I have read such conflicting info about drinking WK & kombucha if dealing candida/candidiasis. Guest guest
I have candida also. I read The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates. I really appreciate what she says about candida and kefir. I am trying kefir to help kill the yeast. I'm glad to know where is someone else out there affected by the same infection that I am. It is so hard to get rid of. Guest guest
My daughter is 18 and has had candida since she was a newborn. Unfortunately we never knew what " it' was until now. She has cracked ears, cracked scalp, constant skin inflammations, terrible immune system . Anyway, she applies my raw milk kefir to her skin and it relieves the itchiness, the pustules, the inflamed bumps. BTW she also eats the kefir and is taking anti-candida supplements. It has been a long haul for her but there has been a definite improvement over 2 months. Kim
Guest guest
Kim,  Are you sure she does not have psoriasis? Poor thing. I wonder if the water kefir would help too. I do not have milk but I have cracked skin crazy immune system inflammations. I will give it a try. I have always thought my troubles was from candida. Now I think it is psoriasis.  Maybe it will help both. Will keep the list posted on any progress. Guest guest
Raw, extra-virgin coconut oil is very soothing and healing for dry, crusty skin patches and raw red ones, whatever the cause. It also helps with the itch and swelling from insect bites, and contact irritations from plant saps and oils. Cheers,
Guest guest
Psoriasis is from a " dirty " liver. When overloaded it cannot filter out all the toxins and they come out through your skin. My husband has had it for a number of years and even being VERY strict about an anti-candida diet, he still suffered. He toed the line for an entire year (he's much better at things like that than I!) and nothing much changed. What has made a change, however, is a holistic practitioner who does light therapy on him. She uses all the lights of the chakras and concentrates on his spots with specific colors. Each treatment is a different color as he is low in different colors at different times, she doesn't follow a strict pattern, just what he needs. I know, for myself, drinking water kefir and kombucha AND having the light treatments, has improved my digestioin immensely. Shari
Guest guest
I'm sure she has/had candida--a fungal infection all over her body. Since a tiny tot she's been on antibiotics more times than I can count. As a little girl whenever dd urinated in her diaper (sugar in her pee) dd would break out in a huge red rash wherever the urine landed. I had to use monostat, etc on her as diaper cream , She's always had athlete's foot in her ears, and scaling of her scalp, which spread to her face. Itching, inflammation, soreness, infections.... The astonishing thing is, not a single doctor she's been to in all these years saw her head to toe skin problems for what they were: systemic fungal infection. It was only the most recent dermatologist who thought to put dd on a heavy duty course of Diflucan once a day for an entire month. After 3 weeks dd's body was on overload from die-off and she had to stop with the Difllucan. So I had dd start drinking kefir as well as spread it on her afflicted areas, and now she had regained some strength she is doing the anti-candida OTC supplements. That's why the kefir helps so much: it seems to be antifungal in some way. Dd spreads it on her face and lets it sit there and dry, then she rinses it off. After doing this and taking kefir internally as well as using candida cleanse supplements her face, ears and scalp are almost 95% healed. Although a bit slower treatment method than the Diflucan it is working, that's for sure! Guest guest
Thanks I will look into it. I had heard about the liver sickness. I do not drink. But I know it is not always alcohol that causes your liver grief. I have been upping my intake of water kefir and even eating some of my excess of grains in smoothies. I will look into the lights. Thanks Chris ________________________________ From: ShariV <shavig@...> Sent: Sunday, October 16, 2011 9:27 AM Subject: Re: Re: Candida & water kefir/kombucha Psoriasis is from a " dirty " liver. Guest guest
You might try `food grade diatomaceous earth'. It scrapes your entire intestinal tract of toxins and then gets into your blood stream and cleans your blood vessels of plaque. It also affects every organ in your body including the kidneys to help clean them out. I have been taking it for months now and my restless leg syndrome has totally stopped. My hair is softer, my skin is clear and the doctor said my blood pressure is normal. It had been on the high side I told him what I was taking and he just said hummm… and that was it. Food grade diatomaceous earth is pure silica and comes from the skeletons of freshwater plankton. Just Google it and you can read all about it. I am 64 and it has done nothing but good things for me, but I must warn you, the first few times you take it you may get sick from all the toxins leaving your body. I know I did and I had to take small amounts of it at first till the sick feeling started going away. At first my face broke out then my shoulders were covered with pimples. (I haven't had any of those for many years) and I felt very much run down. Now I take two heaping table spoons a day with no side effects at all.(my skin is now crystal clear and I have plenty of energy) From what I have read I probably should be taking three heaping table spoons a day and probably will I just haven't started doing it yet. I advise anyone who tries this to start out slow with maybe a half teaspoon to start with till you figure out what you can tolerate, but even if you do get sick after a while all the side effect will disappear anyway. My sister never did feel sick and she has taken it for as long as I have and loves it. She is three years older than me and says it has helped her to where she just feels so much better than she used to feel. Freshwater diatom skeletons are cylinder shaped and under a microscope they look like round cylinder shaped cheese graters. As they pass through your gut they scrape and trap toxins inside the cylinder and then pass through your normal digestive tract. It is all done mechanically and naturally with no drugs at all. Some of the silica dissolves and gets into your whole body. As you get older your body needs more silica. My hair used to be like straw now it is very soft like it was when I was younger. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Google it and you will find lots of information just like when you first Googled Kefir. > > Psoriasis is from a " dirty " liver. Guest guest
My husband hasn't had a drink since April of 1987 (I got sober 4/1/87 and he joined me). But then again my mother never drank and she died of liver failure, but I'm pretty sure her failure came from all the thyroid, cholesterol and blood pressure medications she took most of her adult life. I think I'll keep drinking kefir and booch!! Shari
