Guest guest
I have been making MK and WK for about a month now and though my WK grains have doubled, my MK grains are about the same as when they first arrived. At first I wondered if they were just not growing well but then I noticed something... My WK has lots of tiny (baby?) grains when I strain it. I catch them because the strainer I use for WK is a fine mesh. However, the strainer I use for my MK has larger holes in it -large enough that if there were tiny grains like the WK, they would slip right through. Is it possible that they are multpilying like the WK but my strainer is allowing them past and therefore we are actually consuming them? My MK strainer is as fine of a mesh as I can get and actually get it to strain. Even now I have to shake the strainer on occasion to get it to pass though as it is so thick. We really want to be able to try different kinds of kefir and to share grains as well but still just have enough for our one batch a day. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!
