We had to be out of town last week, so I had stopped making fresh water kefir

for the dogs. We had planned on leaving Monday, but we didn't leave until

Wednesday. I noticed while we were gone that the dogs' breath was getting bad.

When we got home, I gave them the kefir that I had fermenting in the fridge. I

also gave some grains to them. It helped A LOT!

Last night, along with their kefir I gave each of them about 2 cups of grains.

They had real bad gas and burps. Should I repeat it, cut back, or not give them

more? Their breath does smell better this morning.

I know others disagree, but I have my milk kefir, water kefir, and kombucha

all side by side in my cupboard and to-date I have not had any problems

with cross-contamination. All are thriving.
