Guest guest
I Kefirize vanilla rice milk. I actually like the vanilla taste. I add a drop of coconut extract and I love it. Maybe I've gotten used to it! But I also brew and drink kombucha which is a sweetish vinegary flavor. I'll have to try it with the plain. To answer your question, it seems wise to add a little sugar if you're using a grain milk with no sugar added. Just know, whether there's added sugar or not, rice itself has some sugars in it. It just may take longer to ferment OR maybe there's not enough sugars for the grains and they would starve. Now I have to try it. Teresita 1b. Re: Kefir and Rice Milk Posted by: " Robin " cokelush@... cokelush1 Date: Wed Dec 1, 2010 5:36 pm ((PST)) I wondered about that so when I did this batch I added several pinches of sugar so the blob would have something to eat. {Vanilla rice milk contains a sugar but the regular rice milk doesn't. And Kefir-ed Vanilla sounded ick. lol} Was that an okay thing to do you think? It does look like what I would think water kefir looks like. Which is a drag b/c I love milk kefir but... I tastes tangy so I'm guessing it is okay. Just looks like water with a little white substance in the bottom. Thanks for your response Teresita!
