Guest guest
Just wondering if your son has been checked for inflammatory bowel disease. This disease also causes periodic fevers, and can cause diarrhea. Just thought I'd throw this out there because the " fever syndromes " are not the only diseases which cause periodic fevers. The Singulair may have nothing to do with the stomachaches. Is he having any other symptoms like nausea, or rashes, or loss of weight? Guest guest
Hi there My son just started Singular and has had some recent stomach cramps and diarrhea. Our physician confirmed today that it could be a potential side effect of the Singular(these side effects are noted on Merck Frost's website as well). He also has a slight rash on his back and chest which is not bothering him. Again, the rash could be a side effect of the Singular or something else. It is not a hive type rash. He is definitely feeling better now, as the cramps have seemed to disappear, but if they worsen, we need to call our Physician back. I should note, our Dr mentioned today that usually if you are to have a result from a medication it does usually happen within the first 48 hours. We are still keeping him on the Singular at this time, as the cramps have disappeared. Re: Stomach upset Just wondering if your son has been checked for inflammatory bowel disease. Guest guest
Hi, Thank you for your responses. is 27 months old and has had a monthly periodic fevers since he was 12 months old. His symptoms during an episode include: extremely swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, dark circles under the eyes, loss of appetite, joint aches, mouth ulcers, fevers that last 6-7 days, temperatures that reach 105 degrees, excessive sweating when sleeping, one febrile seizure, lots of crying and glassy eyes. The diarrhea started 2 months ago after a really bad 7 day fever episode. I got it under control by omitting milk for a week and giving him rice, etc. After the really bad fever episode we decided to put him on a trial of Singulair. Once he started the Singulair he started eating a ton, sleeping better, and his next fever episode was shorter and the temps were much lower. I was thrilled . When the episode ended I noticed the diarrhea was back. Note: He had no diarrhea the 1st two weeks on Singulair. He is still having diarrhea two weeks after the small fever episode and yesterday he started vomiting when he woke up. Other than that he is running around like a happy, normal little boy this week. He also has never had any hives or rashes on his body. I'm having his stool tested this week. That was quite the task putting stool in 4 little containers. The things we do as mothers!!! My gut tells me that it's either the Singulair, excessive Motrin use, a milk allergy or some sort of bacteria in his intestines. I did look up Inflammatory Bowel Disease after reading your posting. I will bring that up to his Doctor...just to make sure we aren't missing something. The Doctor said he is fully hydrated...so I'm just waiting on the testing to come back from his stool samples. I did read on the Singulair package insert that it could cause diarrhea. The Doctor we saw yesterday didn't think it was causing it...but who knows? This is such a guessing game! I just want him to feel better. Amy- Mom to -age
Guest guest
Try mixing kefit w cultured buttermilk, very easy 2 make, like russian kefir. Just add more milk. Brews in 1day. Kefir that sits too long causes stomach pain. eco Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®
