water kefir grains

I received a very generous amount of water kefir grains from someone here and

split them between myself and my boys(young men). I had them started well here

at home in the mountains prior to leaving to spend time in the high plains with

my husband.

The grains that were left here in the mountains are going gang busters, the

grains in the high plains are getting by. Both are being treated exactly the

same, elevation seems to be the only difference. The ones at 4000 ft are

producing and multiplying well ahead of those 7200 ft..

Can anyone give me any ideas to why this may be?

 Thanks-Carol

Hi ,

Water grains definitely need more time than milk grains. Use a 4:1 ratio and

give them at least two days. You will taste the tartness by then if they are

active. If not give then another day.
