Guest guest
That experience adds fuel to my speculation re. origins of kefir ... could that in fact have been manna? As the verses of the different translations of the Bible show, it seemed to appear after the dew left, left as a small round thing similar to hoar frost or coriander seed in size/shape, and was obviously very nourishing but they would have to eat of it every day. It could be kept for generations to come, although it further records that it did not come down anymore after they reached Canaan ... IF it was water kefir grains they might have possibly kept on reproducting " for generations " from that initial seeding because it was to be kept for future generations. I believe it is conceivable that water kefir grains, especially with certain waters, might become thick when developed so it might be like tiny breads although obviously not like our baked breads. King version Exodus 13-15: ^13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and*in the morning the dew lay round about* the host. ^14 And *when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar fros*t on the ground. ^15 And when the children of Israel saw it,*they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was*. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. New International version Biblical ref: EX. 16:31: " .... It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey. " EX. 16:32 " .... keep it for the generations to come, so they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the desert when I brought you out of Egypt.' " Ex. 16.:35: " The Israelites ate *manna* forty years, until they came to a land that was settled; they ate *manna* until they reached the border of Canaan.: Numbers 11:6: " But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this *manna*! " Numbers 11:7 " The *manna* was like coriander seed and looked like resin. " Numbers 11:9 " When the dew settled on the camp at night, the *manna* also came down. " *Bible Concordance :: Manna <http://www.gospel.com/bookmarks/Bible-Concordance-Manna/3122> Means " What is it? " . Manna was the name the Israelites gave the special food God provided to them in the desert. It was a white, bread-like, sweet-tasting food that would show up on the ground in the morning. * * http://biblica.com/niv/appendix/concordance_resultsingle.php?rowid=72 * *Ours in wonderment at kefir ... a wonder food!
