Hi Lyudmyla,

I think u r talking about IOTN station and the cephalometric tracing... for the IOTN: in this station we got a casts ( up and lower ) for an ortho malocclusion case and we have to gine the IOTN, dental and esthetic component using a special ruler to measure the overjet and displacement of the teeth to know the dental component grade.

For cephalometric tracing: they give a many rulers to line the planes requested, like maxillary and manndibular plave and the other ruleer to measure the angles like ANB and up central with maxilary plane..etc.

Note, needless to bring any ruler with u as everything will available in the station.

unfortunately, I have no attachment ( in drawing ) to explain the above stations..

Hope that help.

As far as I have noticed from feedbacks there have been no questions about the iotn ruler, but there have been numerous questions bout iotn classifications so it wud be wise to make a table and and remember it! If anyone will shed light on how the iotn ruler is used I wud be most grateful also. Hi all,

first of all, let me say I wish you have all had a great Xmas and also wish you all a Happy 2012 - hopefully full of achievements!!!

Now, regarding the IOTN. I found it very difficult to memorize it as well, but fortunatelly, the questions that appeared in jan and sep last year weren't many. I don't think there was a single one in jan and, in sep, as far as I recall, there was one question - not very difficult either!

As I am terrible with memorizing, I tried to memorize it a few times before the exam and, I'm afraid that was in my "memorizing bundle" that I used on the train and just before the exam.

In fact, I found it very useful to do that: everything I foud difficult to memorize but knew to be vital for the exam, I made notes of it and kept until the night before the exam. And that all I did the day before and the morning of the exam - memorize the notes and tables I couldn't keep in my head. Of course I didn't remember everything, but I did remember a lot! For me, the adrenaline rush works as an aide memoire and helps me remember things better!

I might be wrong, but I think the best way to succeed in this exam is to keep moving: when confronted with a subject that is difficult to keep in, make notes, move on and, if necessary, go back to it nearer the time. Covering a lot of ground superficially is more useful than covering lees in depth, given the nature of the exam!

Good luck to us all!!!

x
