Hi all,Need help with the following 5 ques:1. A 10 year old boy presents with non-vital, non-mobile tooth.Treatment isA. Pulpectomy with calcium hydroxideB. Pulpectomy with Zinc oxide eugenolC. Pulpotomy with formocresolD. No treatment is required if tooth is asymptomatic2.A patient suffers a blow to his maxillary central incisorwithout resulting in fracture. The pulpA. Immediate necrosisB. Becomes non-vital but only if treatment is delayed too longC. Becomes non vital irrespective of treatmentD. No changes is seen later if fracture does not occur3.Community water fluoridation MOST effectively achieves isA. 90-95% reduction of cariesB. 45-55% reduction of cariesC. Reduces pit and fissures caries

more than smooth surfacesD. Reduces smooth surfaces more than pit and fissures4.Which of the following is NOT TRUE in regards to lateralperiodontal cystA. It is more common in anterior regionB. It occurs more in maxilla than mandibleC. Probable origin is from dentigerous cyst which develops laterallyD. if the tooth is permenant so its depends on the level of root formation if incomplete so its A and if its primary its B coz simply u cant use option A with primary tooth.we have also to consider option D as the main reason for the treatment is to retain the tooth as long as possible to avoid crowding later on.Anyway i think nobody can give an answer for that Q on the way it looks now,it need more clarification regarding the tooth whether its primary or permenant

Since all the choices are pulpectomy/pulpotomy, im assuming its a primary tooth. If it was permenant, it would have been "root canal treatment". Altho we can use the term pulpectomy for permanent teeth, the definitive treatment wud be RCT. Plus, they r saying non-mobile - implicating its primary.

Just thinking aloud, my guess is B.

What about question 2. What is the treatment that if delayed will result in the tooth becoming necrotic? can anyone explain.

Thanks all.

guys according to me the question is divided into 3 parts

1.non mobile: indicating permanent tooth

2.10 years child indicating erruption of u & l 1st m,u & l c & l i,lca,u1st & 2nd pm,l1st pm.

3.non vital: indicating requires pulpectomy

the doubt m having is they have not given the reason of non vital tooth if it was caries it could have been any tooth, if it could have been trauma most common would be incisors so accordingly calculating the age of root completion which is 2-3 yrs after erruption it could either be,A or B.

correct me if wrong.

I would go for b in the 2nd q

I hv read that grey brownish discoloration in early stages indicates vital pulp

but same discoloration in late stages indicates necrotic pulp...

Regarding q no 1 I would also go for b in considering its primary tooth

I think if its primary tooth then the answer shud be D as the pt is 10.. I mean

if tooth is asymptomatic n gona exfoliate in max 2 yrs y wud u go for

pulpectomy?

If its permanent then it must be A coz that implies apexification right wid

calcium hyrdoxide? So much be incomplete root formation..

Lemme knw wat u guys think..

Also does neone knw how ORE questions r? I mean is it single best answer or can

der be multiple right answers?

if the tooth is permenant so its depends on the level of root formation if

incomplete so its A and if  its primary its B coz simply u cant use

option A

with  primary tooth.we have also to consider option D as the main reason for

the

treatment is to retain the tooth as long as possible to avoid crowding later

on.Anyway i think nobody can give an answer for that Q on the way it looks

now,it need more clarification regarding the tooth whether its primary or

permenant

actually i think the tooth exact should be denoted as age of root formation will

vary according to the tooth. correct me if wrong.
