Hi All,

Greeting for the day!

I am forced to write on this group because of recent experience of ORE

Invitation.

3 years back when I came to UK, IQE/ORE exams were most important exams for

oversees dentist and everybody was trying to schedule these, which created a

very long waiting lists ( talks of waiting list as high as 900 dentist were

going on), Because of that big pipeline it use to take 6 months , 1 year

sometimes more than that to get seat in the exam.

I have now heard from so many sources including GDC web site, this DL and my

friends that no body is accepting this exam for one reason or other. I also

heard earlier ORE part 1 exam (Sep'09) was not that full and that there were

many vacant seats in it. For this time (Apr'10) invitation to sit for exam has

gone to almost all the candidates who applied in Jan'10 & Feb'10 as well and

still seats are not full which indicates there is absolutely no interest for the

exam.

Now, the question is: Why suddenly people are not willing to write or apply for

ORE exam? What has made GDC to send so many invitations this time considering

from last so many years there was never 3rd round of invitation and now they

have completed 7th round of invitation and still seats are vacant.

Is there some other thing oversees dentist are interested in currently? is this

ORE route just not workable/feasible so guys are opting out? Is dentistry in UK

not the lucarative? what is happening?

Kindly give me some insight on this after consultation with Dentists and

oversees candidates who have not taken this up just not because they were not

prepared fully...

Thanks & regards,

Aman
