The difference is

Herper Simplex is HH1 Herpes Zoster is HH3

Primary infec.Pramary herpetic gingivost. Chicken pox,later shingles

Occurs mucocutaneous junction Unilateral never crossing midline

eye can be involved too

after sun

Micro Lipshutz bodies

Reactivation from trigeminal ganglion trigeminal or dorsal root ganglion
