Guest guest
If you make your favorite soap recipe, use triple strength coffee and coffee grounds added at trace and you will have a nice soap that removes fishy smells, garlic too! Just be warned though, when you add the lye to your coffee water it will be really stinky! But that smell will dissipate in time. Good luck & happy holidays! Christie S. Guest guest
Cheryl, You might try using a strongly brewed coffee as your water for a batch of soap. Not sure if that will help with the fish odor - but it does help me when I have been cooking with onions and/or garlic to rid my hands of those odors. I call it my " kitchen coffee bar. " Tonya K. Guest guest
Anise is also a great scent for removing fish smell. I made one with poppy seeds and called it Hunter's soap. That's Anise EO. Guest guest
I hate to suggest this since it is not soap, but try lemon juice or cut a lemon and scrub with the peel after squeezing the juice on the hands. (As a soap maker, I hate suggesting any thing that is not soap related...course I do use whole lemons in one soap). Guest guest
Got this today in an e-zine and wondered of you could make a soap using the lemon and mustard powder. I'm new here also...been reading posts for about a month. Haven't tried any soap except the easy glycerine...melt and pour!!! I'm interested in making my own facial products and cosmetics. Anyway....here's what I copied from the ezine: Hand cleanser - to remove fishy smells from hands sprinkle on powdered mustard and enough lemon juice to make a paste. Rub paste in well and then wash off with soap and water. Suzanne Soap recipe to rid hands of fish smell Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a good soap recipe that will rid your hands of fish smell. I know anise is supposed to mask the human odor but I want something that will take the fish smell off the hands. Thanks in advance, Cheryllove
