Hey Karma

I don't know if you've ever heard of this diet before, but I do know

people who have used it and lost a lot of weight. It is called " The

Hilton Head Metabolism Diet " and is written by Dr. . He

sets people up on a well-balanced diet, but the beauty of it is that you

eat 5 meals a day (at least I think it's 5, he wrote a second edition

where I think he changed it from 4 meals to 5). While there are

vegetables in the diet, there is also steak, chicken, fish, and a lot of

other variety that keeps it from getting too boring. He does want people

on the diet to do calorie burning exercises like walking or swimming, but

I think the LL breath burns more calories than either of those exercises.

Anyway, he says that the way it works is by the different combinations

of foods that he gives you for each meal. He does give substitutions

just in case you are allergic, or really just don't like a particular

food, and he even has recipes so your meals don't get boring.

I don't know if this will work for her or not, but if you are concerned

about the protein diet binding her, this might be a better alternative

because it mixes meat, veggies, and fruit, which would probably help keep

her regular. I personally have never been able to try this diet because

every time I get serious about starting it, I get pregnant! But, I do

know quite a few people who have lost weight on it, although not as much

as it seems this woman needs, but it might be worth looking at for her.

Hope this helps.

Beth B.

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the response. Where do I find this diet? Would it be in the library or would I do a net search for it?

I am looking for any starting place for her.

Sincerely,~Karmahttp://loaves-n-fishes.com

Wow, Karma!

You gave so much just by going and listening. You know I've been trying just about everything myself these past two years and I definitely agree with all the things you do.

One book that recently helped me a lot - and I got it out of the library is "Picture Perfect Weight Loss". It helps me to eat A LOT!!!! and I'm losing. I did change to eating more beans and fiber. However, I've also had chocolate every day!!! Whooo Hooooo!!! Yep, the Dr. that wrote this book (Dr. Shapiro) actually shows you how to have a chocolate binge. Pretty neat huh?

Maybe she'll like the pictures and start to consider what she's eating a bit more in different terms.

I've added oatmeal to some of my mornings. It's actually been cold here in sunny FL. To make it sweet, without adding lots of calories, I've make raisin sauce. I just use the juice and it makes my oatmeal sweet and I think it's better than adding sugar. I also add my apples or bananas. And of course I'm getting fiber.

You obviously can't make her eat what she doesn't like, yet we can make things more palatable.

If she doesn't like drinking water, I hate the taste of water myself, I add some fresh squeezed lemon juice. If you could get her to drink calorie free drinks that might help. Making sun tea with Celestial Seasonings Wild Berry Zinger also tastes good and it's sweet enough not to add sugar - and that's calorie free.

As for the exercise, I don't think you could be on a better track that helping her to learn life lift. It's the best reclining chair exercise that I know and love using!

And of course the absolute best thing any of us can do, is just be an excellent example. Talk the talk and walk the walk. And we all know you do this 110% and more. If she really wants to make changes in her life, your enthusiasm and honest support will help her to help herself. So go and just have fun with her. Go out and play!! Laughter is the best healer.! You have shared so much of your enthusiasm and beliefs with all of us and you know many of us are out there cleaning our colons, breathing, and much much more.

Bless you for giving such wonderful gifts, especially your time, to everyone.

Sincerely,

Any suggestions would be welcome. I am over my head with this one. I need more than my head to help her.

Thanks!

Sincerely,~Karma
