Guest guest
I asked my doctor about this question about RA being genetic. She stated that nobody really has that answer. My situation was different because my grandpa has arthritis but not RA in his hands and feet. Out of the three daughters he had and 10 grandchildren, I was the only one who got RA and all the others don't have anything. I am 25 years old now and was diagnosed when I was 22. I believe that I got RA from a car accident that I was in in 2005. I didn't have RA before then and lived a life with no pain and then after phsyical therapy and chiro were over, I started getting pain in every joint. When I asked my therapy doctor he stated that the accident brought on my RA quicker than usual. He stated that I may have recieved it later in life but not this soon. I would say that later in life he may get it but you may never know. > > Hi guys > I have a question I just found out my mothers grandpa had RA, her > brother and her both OA. Guest guest
Good question Angie, On the issue of heredity, my personal experience is, my mother has Vasculitius, my sister has Raynards, I have RA. I also have 3 sons, the baby (20) had a growth in his ear last year, went to a ear/nose/throat doc who is tops in his field, probably tops in the nation, he also tested for AIED (autoimmune inner ear disease), I had never even heard of AIED, my son has the " markers " for this disease. What this means for us is, if he has any sign of hearing loss, he needs a hearing test immediately, if it has " turned on " he'll go on MTX for the rest of his life. If he doesn't go on MTX, he'll become deaf. Hows that! Talk about a shock. Of course, I'm also thinking of my other two sons (25 and 28) and as soon as they become secure in their jobs, I will bug them to get disability insurance, just in case.
