Guest guest
I saw my OS myself yesterday. When I complained about the pain a year and a half after he performed a surgery on my knee he said " oh, that happens. Sometimes it doesn´t work for CP " and the he added " Some people are much worse than you are " ...000 No comments. Then he prescribed PT (I have been in PT the whole 2001) and more celebrex and glucosamine !!! He must be nuts. I asked about prolo and he said that is not a medical procedure... ?¿ Anyway, if it makes you feel better this was my visit to my dear OS. Luckily I am feeling much better. Some of this doctors shoul visit these page ! Marga

Guest guest
> How much Glucosamine are you guys taking per day,Celebrex??,Advil?? I take 1500 mg per day (the product is prescribed and called xicil). You are suppose to take it during 3 months and then stop for a while. I try to stay away from advil myself and only take it when it really hurts. I also try to stay away from Celebrex and never take it at the same time as advil (I think it is no good for you to mix). Celebrex is once a day pill. It is quite strong. I took it during a complete month last year, again once a day. I believe the best teraphy for CP is a good PT and lots of care ! Have a good day, everyone! marga
Guest guest
: That sounds like a lousy doctor to me. He may be a talented surgeon, but he's a lousy doctor, you know what I mean? It seems like he has no idea what is causing your pain, but wants to do a surgery anyway. Scary. Try to find a pain specialist. That way you'll be dealing with someone who has a few thoughts besides, " let's cut you open and peek around. " Please don't get discouraged. There is someone out there who can fix your problems. We just have to put you in touch with him or her. It is a long road, but you will arrive at a cure eventually. - Doug > Well as fate would have it Doug pretty much had things > nailed down. The doc comes in looks over the report and > says " you have a tear in the meniscus " .I say " oh " to > wich he replies " we could repair it with surgery > arthroscopicly " .He then describes the procedure.I ask > him if this will help the crepitus and discomfort in > the kneecap and he says no.I then ask him where I > would feel discomfort from this torn Meniscus he > points to the inside of my knee.Thats all I needed to > see because I dont have ANY PAIN whatsoever in that > area He says well it's up to you if you want it > repaired.Forget that nonsense.I tell him I am > uncomfortable in the kneecap area.He suggests > cortizone shot for the pain.I remember reading on this > list to steer clear of that at all costs so that idea > I shot down instantly.Prolotherapy? he says yea I have > heard about it but " it wont work " (no doubt he has > ever tried or investigated it to any degree)I tell him > of this list and that some have found great benifit > from it.He says everyone is different so what works > for some will not for others.I then ask about Synvisc > he tells me it may help but my insurance company will > not cover it for treating CP.Then he adds if he did > the procedure to the Meniscus and while he was in > there I see cartilige wear under the kneecap I can go > to the insurance and tell them there is visible wear > that the MRI did not pick up and then they would cover > the Synvisc injections. He says the stuff is expensive > at 180 dollars a vile. Guest guest
Marga: This guy sounds like a lousy doctor too. As if it would make you feel better that " some people are worse than you. " Anyone who says that prolotherapy is not a " medical procedure " obviously doesn't know what it is. He's confusing it with something else. If you have the energy, try to educate him to the benefits of prolotherapy. Bring some articles with you next time you go (if you see him again). I doubt he'll be very open minded. Your time is probably better spent searching for a doctor that can help figure out what is wrong with you. Obviously this guy was wrong with the surgery. Good luck, Doug > I saw my OS myself yesterday. When I complained about the pain a year > and a half after he performed a surgery on my knee he said " oh, that > happens. A good rule of thumb for whether prolotherapy will work is, " if you can put your finger on the pain, chances are good prolotherapy can fix it. " Please don't get discouraged. There is someone out there who can cure you. We just have to find out who that is and put you in touch with him or her. It will be a long road, but eventually you'll arrive at a cure. Guest guest
Actually Synvisc is minimum $300 a shot plus the anesthetic! For me the total for two knees, 3 injections was $3000! My insurance convered it all minus my deductible for each visit! You may just need to call and have it pre-certified, but if it is documented why you need it, they should cover it! Good luck! > Well as fate would have it Doug pretty much had things > nailed down. Guest guest
I think the dosage of GC is 500mg glucos./400mg chondr. per tab. I beleive you are to start at 3 tabs a day until it builds up in your system and then you can drop to 2 a day. Least, that is how I did it. I take all mine at once. Don't know if I am supposed to do it that way, but I always have. I forget the dosage of celebrex. there are 2 strengths, 100mg and 300mg? I am not sure though. I would lay off the advil and try celebrex or vioxx instead. good luck! > > > Then he prescribed PT (I have been in PT the whole > > 2001) and more > > celebrex and glucosamine !!! Guest guest
You are right...do NOT take Celebrex and advil together! They have similiar actions. You'll give yourself an ulcer! > > How much Glucosamine are you guys taking per day,Celebrex??,Advil?? > > I take 1500 mg per day (the product is prescribed and called xicil). > You are suppose to take it during 3 months and then stop for a while. > > I try to stay away from advil myself and only take it when it really > hurts. > > I also try to stay away from Celebrex and never take it at the same > time as advil (I think it is no good for you to mix).
