Guest guest
Hi,my name is michelle and as you can see by the subject of my message i am only 18 and i found out that i had chondromalacia when i was 17. The doctor didn't tell me too much about this so i am hoping that from joining this club i can be informed about this. i have played sports all my life so i am thinking that it is the main cause to my problem. they told me i could have surgery but it would be useless because i would be back in a year anyways to have it redone again. i was put on viox which i take every day and that is starting to help but for the pain i have to do leg lifts. i know it says to avoid running for sometime and jumping but i was just wondering if you know how long you have to wait and if one can continue to play competetive sports again like softball, because i am afraid if i start to again in college it will mess my kneees up even more. if you can help me out i would greatly appreciate it. thanks a lot. Guest guest
Hello!
I'm fairly new to the group, too.
Message 1512 has a really good index of the posts, and there are several posts with links about chondromalacia.
I suggest you look them over and educate yourself on chondromalacia and go talk to your doctor again.
From what I've read it's not the crunchy knees(instead of squeaky wheels) that get the grease, it's the pushy patients that get taken care of!I wish this type of resource had been available when I was 18!
