Guest guest
Hey! I'm only 18 and I was just diagnosed with this chondromalacia thing. I've had knee problems ever since middle school (diagnosed as " growing pains " and I'd simply have to wait until i completed my growth spurt), high school (diagnosed as having inflamed ligaments), and finally this. I guess catching on fast pitch softball teams for 6 years didn't help any.. Well, after taking medications from Ibuprofen, to Naprelan, and now Celebrex -- the only relief I've gotten was from the cortisone shot I recieved about 2 months ago. How wonderful my knees felt then! But now its back to hurting when i squat (no no no not catching anymore -- finally turned in the old mitt), and especially doing things such as climbing stairs. I get anything from a dull constant pain to pains so sharp I have to grab hold of the nearest thing to keep from falling! I'm only 18!! Do I have a life of painful knees to look forward to?! If it's like this now... what will it be in 5? 10? years?! Any suggestions for relief? I'm a college student (meaning i have a 15 minute walk to classes -- up and down hills and steps) and lead an active life style (still playin sball just not catching *cry*) so I don't have loads of time to slow up and ease the pain:-( Help?
