Hi

First things... I do think you

should give the karate a rest!! Sorry to be negative,

but it's the same advice I give everyone in this

group (you might have noticed!) Excercise is good,

walking etc, but karate?! I just don't know how you can

do it? Please think about it. Perhaps you could do

some other sport instead?

Regarding the X-rays.

I think your doc could request them from the X-ray

dept but I would suggest you BUY your own copies...

then you can show them to anyone... physios,

consultants etc...

I saw my own MRI's the other day

and inquired about getting copies. The NHS are

willing to supply me copies of my MRI's providing I pay

for the film (about £25 I think). I think the same

would be true for your X-rays.

So phone the

X-ray dept in the hospital which took your X-rays and

ask for copies. Say you want copies to show to your

physio or doctor etc. I think you'll have to pay

something but they'll let you have them.

PS - I

don't think it's a good idea ever to imply that you

want to show them to some private consultant... ie

anybody with their own X-ray facilities. I'm not sure

why, but the price seems to magically go up to £60 or

so in this case. I think it's to stop people from

getting " cheap " X-rays off the back of the NHS.

Hope the pain goes away. Have you asked your doctor

for voltarol? I think it would take the edge off the

pain. I think I read somewhere that ibuprofen gel

doesn't work like ibuprofen tablets... doesn't get into

the blood stream or something. Voltarol is stronger

than ibuprofen. I tried it once, it seemed to

help.

I'm not a big NSAID fan, but sometimes you gotta take

a good NSAID for a few days or a week to settle the

pain.

Good luck fellow NHS'er
Joe
