Guest guest
Hi! I'm a 44 y/o F diagnosed last week with CP. I have had pain off and on in my right knee since my late twenties when I used to run and ride horseback. In the past two years I have been doing aerobics, kickboxing, yoga, etc. and the pain has started interefering with the enjoyment of the exercise. When I saw the OS he remarked there was a calcification on the x-ray and on exam he remarked to the med student with him, " Wow, she's got big time CP! You can feel it! " He started taking about scoping the knee to scrape the back of the patella but recommended 6 wks of PT and celebrex. The PT also remarked about how the knee felt on exam and said he was afraid he'd be seeing me post-op but hoped not. I have pain mostly climbing and descending stairs (sharp stabs) as well as with exercise and sometimes bending it a certain way. It also has a gosh-awful grinding noise and feel to it. I have been doing my exercises religiously and have a good attitude to rehab. But I hate to open a Pandora's box by the surgery if I don't really need it. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks!
