Guest guest
Hi Felicia and others, Am glad some others are interested too in the evidence and proving of the qualities and characteristics of kefir. DOM cites the one study I was particularly referencing re. kefir killing mastitis. I am copy/pasting from a post I had sent previously to another forum on it with the link to it to be found here at the FAQ site I believe: ________________________ As was said here, it is unresearched and unknown what kefir could/could not do with the hormonal contamination .. but I rest easier knowing that kefir has handled moderate " pus " for generations. See FAQ 21, & 36, possibly on to 38 if I recall, on DOM's FAQ website re. kefir safety and even tests which have been done with alternative treatment for cow mastitis using kefir, (pus and inflammations, etc.) at the FAQ website for these matters: http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefir-faq.html It is an area of research which should be done to see what happens to various types of hormones with kefir symbiosis .. it is dynamic with its environment. As is noted, there can be different results expected with the different sweet to sour acidic stages of kefir fermentations. Dominic noted that different people react differently to the different stages. So, any research would also have to test different stages to see the results. And THAT might not still give a final accurate and reliable, reproducible result since kefir changes over time to its environment. I believe it also reacts to whatever " traumas " it may experience. Going on that theory, when I was experimenting to see how large my giant kefir could get, I tried to minimize the amount of handling I had to do with it .. gently draining off milk after the first 24, etc. so as to minimize the need for division. I do not know if that is the reason it grew as it did for sure, but I believe it was a large factor. ________________________ There is yet another study " out there " which I posted at one time (my Outlook Express " ate " a good share of my emails so I have a hard time finding anything and my desktop searchers are almost worthless at this point in time.) The study was about whether certain kefir bacteriocins were more effective than antibiotics in eradicating or maintaining healthy vaginas where certain " bad " organisms were introduced or present. I will keep my eyes open for that one also. There is ALWAYS a " BETTER WAY " ! WE can find & make ITa " Cradle for Humanity " !
