Guest guest
A few days ago I found one yellowish looking grain in my blended smoothie. I guess one small gain must have got drained into my kefir and started growing in the kefir. I am not sure if the grain has been damaged by the blending process. It was about half a finger nail size and yellowish in colour with smooth surface. I put it in a small glass of milk and the milk thickened about 12 hours later. I did this for about 3 days and it seems to work. Then I transferred it to join the rest of my other grains. Now I noticed that the colour of this grain did not changed and the presence of another small grain of the same texture and colour. Is this grain still good? Would it affect the other good grains and should I remove these two yellowed grains from the rest of the good ones? Another thing i noted was after I added the yellowed grain, my kefir did not turned to curds so quickly now. It has settled to about 16 hours instead of the 6 to 7 hours cycle. Used to I get very hard curds after 6 hours with clear separation of the curds and liquid. Now it is creamy and nice. However, this maybe because my gains had gotten used to the warm temperature and stop producing so much yeast. If anyone has any idea about the yellow grain, please let me know. Thanks alot
