That sure is weird, I have been drinking milk kefir for 3 months now and nothing

happens like this. She should go to a dr. and do a stool sample if what she has

is persistant. I have a few friends that say when they drink the milk kefir they

can easily have bowel movement, I haven't noticed that with me.

<<Below is what I found online describing the color of stool.

Changes in stool (feces) color are often harmless and reflect dietary

influences. The normal brown color of stool occurs due to the presence of

bilirubin. Bilirubin is formed as a breakdown product of hemoglobin (from red

blood cells) in the liver and is secreted into the bile, which enters the

intestines. If the intestinal contents travel at a normal speed, chemical

changes in bilirubin produce stool that is light to dark brown. The stool may

appear green if the intestinal contents pass through the bowel more rapidly.

Changes in the color of stool are common and are generally not significant if

the changes are noted from one stool to the next and are not persistent.

However, changes in the color of stool can also be caused by a number of minor

to serious medical conditions and can occur with certain medications. Changes in

stool color that are persistent and do not occur in only one stool may signal

the presence of a medical condition and should be evaluated.

Certain persistent changes in stool color are characteristic for specific

conditions:

black, foul-smelling stool: intestinal bleeding (typically from the stomach and

upper small intestine) due to ulcers, tumors; ingestion of iron or bismuth

maroon stool: intestinal bleeding (from the middle intestine or proximal colon)

due to ulcers, tumors, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis

clay-colored stool: lack of bile due to blockage of the main bile duct

pale yellow, greasy, foul-smelling stool: malabsorption of fat due to pancreatic

insufficiency, as seen with pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, cystic fibrosis,

celiac disease>>

about taking some grains. The next morning she had explosive diarrhea that was

black and dark green. Right after that she was convinced I gave her something

that was very bad for her. Now she is interested again but wants me to give her

more info. I want to help her & I am frustrated. She's diabetic, overweight &

has swollen ankles which she says is from her using to much salt. I know the

kefir will help her ... help me explain things to her please! Thanks

Thanks for responding.  She only drank it one time at my house and this

happened.  She hasn't tried it again but is thinking about it.  She wants to

lose weight and also wants to help improve her diabetic condition.  Thanks

again, I'll keep learning about things so I can help her.

Since she had such a bad reaction that one time, if she wants to try again, she

may want to try only a teaspoon full the first day. If there is no problem, she

could try to gradually increase the portion but only once a day. That should

help in isolating, or confirming any allergies, or food poisoning situation.

Regardless, I think the main problem with being overweigh is over-eating.

Minding the portion size is more important than chosing specific food dish. I

have never been overweigh, but every meal I have caught myself wanting to eat

more, especially those delicious recipes. Yes, I also have many bouts of

overstuffing myself that I can barely sit.

Although, a while back, I had a total of 1.5 cups of cooked rice (less than 1

cup raw rice grains) and about 2 cups of water in 3 days, followed by another 11

days with a total of 1 teaspoon of condensed sweeten milk, and less than 0.5 cup

(4oz.) of water. I barely survived that ordeal and don't wish that to anyone.

But it does put things in perspective about how much food my body really need to

survive, vs. how much I may want to wolf down because it tastes great.
