Guest guest
Hi, This is my first time to post. I received my water grains a couple weeks ago and have been making the regular water kefir with sugar water. I just ordered some coconut water and plan to start making them with this. I want to give this to my son with autism. I have been reading about the Body Ecology Diet and there is a growing group of moms making the kefir from young green coconuts (YCK) for their autistic children with great success. I personally believe these water kefir grains would be as effective, if not more-so than the YCK that they promote (especially since they profit off the dried grains they sell). But, I was wondering if there is a high yeast content and if that is a problem for someone who has intestinal yeast? I know the kefir has wonderful probiotic effect, so this is probably a dumb question. But, with my water grains, the kefir I've made so far smells and tastes strongly of yeast. Is this more like brewer's yeast? We're told to not even use that with our ASD kids, but I'm somewhat of a rebel since I've found that stepping outside the *box* has been what has helped my son more than following the party line. Thanks for any thoughts! BTW, the milk kefir has been wonderful for the rest of the family -- way more powerful and effective than the Body Ecology dried grains. -- P.
