Guest guest
My grains are doing great and I'm sure they've doubled in size in the month that I've had them. -- Has it been a month!? -- In any event, I only use 8oz of Kefir a day by myself, but my grains are going through 4 cups/day. I know I can eat some of the grains (how much at a time?), I give some grains to my dogs and some kefir to the dogs and cats, but I still really have too much. I'd also like to start growing cheese. In any event, I went out of town last week for 5 days and put the Kefir in the refrigerator and it seemed to do just fine. I know some people have been having a debate about fermenting Kefir in the fridge, but I was just thinking about fermenting on the counter, like normal, until I have a half-gallon or so saved up, then putting them in the fridge for a few days-week until I had drank the Kefir I had on hand, then take them back out and ferment some more. Has anyone else done this and is it unhealthy for the grains, or can they stand going in-and-out of the fridge like that? Thanks
