Guest guest
I have been making wonderful kefir for 1 year now. We plan to be on vacation for about 14 days. Should I freeze the grains, store them in the fridge or what. We did go away for 2 days I put them in the fridge in a qt. of raw milk but it took about 4 days for them to get back to normal, so I do have some concerns. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks Don

Guest guest
You already tried the two weeks in the refrigerator and you only had a four day recovery. I said that was normal. You'll have at least a four day recovery period by freezing. At least you'd be able to come home to some kefir if you didn't freeze them. I don't know if a gallon of milk is necessary, unless you have a cup of kefir grains, of course. If you are unsure. Freeze half and refrigerate the other half with some milk. See what you like better for next vacation.
