Guest guest
Hi, OK, I am about to take the plunge and get my grains ordered. But 1st I have just a couple more questions because even if it is just a culture I want to be able to take good care of it when it gets here. I had planned on drying the goats off for about 4-weeks this year for a bit of a break. So what do I feed my milk kefir grains while there is no fresh milk? Did I read that I can freeze some milk for them and how does that work because when I froze milk a couple of years ago I did not care for the flavor. Some one mentioned a dehydrator that does not use heat or is low heat; can you mention that again? Can water grains be dehydrated too or must they be kept growing? Should I try starting with just one type or go for the gusto? My husband is very interested in the water kefir as he has a skin disorder, high blood pressure (HTN), and diarrhea most of the time. I know that it not another’s job to tell me how to deal with this but I am asking for advice because from my reading most of the group grows both types of kefir. Sincere gratitude, ita http://www.goatworld.com/members/dixsigns/ (Website in poor repair) Re: rare grains? Hi,I don't know how rare they are. All kefir grains go through the flat stage sooner or later. And yes, they do make smoother finished kefir because more kefiran gets into the kefir. This is funny because one man on the web has you ordering his firm round kefir grains to replace your "mutant flat ones." People get away with telling you anything in order to sell their product.
