Hello Everybody,

You asked for it so here we are. A big thank you to everyone who

encouraged me to get this new kefir grain group going. And a

special thanks to the ones who offered to help me. I've never done

this before so it is not hard to be humble. Suggestions to make things

better are welcome.

Let's all make this an exceptional group by offering our wonderful

kefir grains in a timely manner to the ever increasing group of folks

who want to take responsibility for their own health and well being.

Let's keep information about kefir and kefir grains accurate. And for

heaven's sake, ask a reasonable price. No one minds paying a

reasonable sum for such a quality product.

The first thing I want you all to do is fill in the database for

contact information. Tell the new folks what you have to offer and

where you live. Then go to the recipe database and give ideas on what

to do with all the kefir you make.

Let the fun begin.

Marilyn

Marilyn, You are doing a great job. I would probably stop one of your rules but

I do see great value in one of them. Signing ones posts is very hard for me to

remember, lol. Just because I forget I dont like the rule. Your group thus your

ideas should stand. Plus it keeps things easier to figure out when you see a

name at the bottom.

For those that do ship out grains, I have noticed the prices and the way they

figure the price has changed. Naturally the price has went up, which is kind of

a bummer. However the increase in minimal. Just trying to let some know they

may not be charging enough. I am currently charging 8 dollars to cover

everything. I know the profit margin is low but I dont care. I dont share to

make a profit. I do so to help others. I honestly feel that 10 dollars is a

reasonable price. I dont know how others feel. The gas, supplies, and milk that

I use to ship out does add up. I may have to go up to 9 dollars if the price of

shipping keeps rising. I used to ship grains out and the post office would

charge 4.85 without confirmation. Now I am lucky to get out of their for 5.15

without confirmation. Confirmation is 70 cents and worth it as I had to give

money back twice because the buyer said it did not show up. I defintely lost

money on that deal. This is the reason I add some padding to cover the

occassional losses.

How do you ship out grains that arent dehydrated ? Maybe my method could use

some tweaking?

April,

If you go to usps.com you can just print out your priority mail label,

charge it to a credit card and it actually costs less than the postoffice

and they include the confirmation. I think I pay $4.80 for 1 lb or less.
