Guest guest
Dear Gang, I am going to step in to some old shoes here and talk about something we discussed a LONG time ago on the list that may be helpful to some (AND I should listen to myself!). Number one: Lifelift is about NOT pounding: not pounding your body, not pounding your eating, not pounding yourself emotionally. I think one reason I had to take a good look at the way I was doing the exercise is the years and years of " pounding " from Jr. High gym teachers who scream " more sit ups " which really damaged my back, to exercises classes in which I would become purple in the face, horrible diets (some good ones, too but mainly involving strict, strict, strict patterns). Our bodies were created to function, not malfunction. The oxygen boost during the breaths is the fat burner at the same time do you all notice you have increased muscle tone, too? That is no accident. About eating...just a funny: everyone around me have had terrible colds. I take vitamin C 'cause my mother always told me to. I can't drink orange juice because of allergies BUT all last week I was craving hot stuff: Indian Curry, Buffalo wings, Cajun Chicken. I had maybe 2 days of a little symptom but that's it. I think we are supposed to LISTEN to our bodies. Eat good food! And listen to your cravings and think about them and what they might be telling you. The " other " benefit we get from LL is the stress burning...the slow deep breathing is much like Lamaze. The whole purpose of Lamaze breathing is to relax to stay ahead of the pain. You can't hurry Lamaze! I am finding the same thing is true of LL...you gotta do it in a methodical manner...not rush, rush do 40. I find myself talking more slowly to my patients, to my family yet getting everything said...funny because that's the way I hear Rashelle on the tapes. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm slowing the speech, speeding the metabolism...I can deal with that. Maybe it is like getting things better in focus to get them accomplished without sitting and spinning our wheels. I am not at this time even close to skinny but I sure feel goooooood! I notched my belt up one notch yesterday. And don't forget to sip, sip, sip that water! I can't TELL you how hard that concept was to get through my head! I am sippin' all day long from bottles I carry in my car having filled them from the frige in the AM. Don't wear yourselves out! Love and pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
