Guest guest
Oh, dear. Humor is difficult to translate. It's a pun. In the U.S., we have the expression, " Holding down the fort, " which means keeping things at home safe in someone's absence. Since Scandanavia is known for its fjords, and fjord sounds like fort, therefore a pun is made. Ken " Actually, in Sweden they say, " Holding down the fjord. Guest guest
I know. In the interests of a humor opportunity too good to pass up, I used " poetic license " to broaden from Sweden to Scandinavia. Ken " Actually, in Sweden they say, " Holding down the fjord. Guest guest
This is one of the refreshing things about belonging to this forum. I can't tell, often, what is a joke or what is sarcasm or what is intended to be funny, especially when it is written. To be able to say, " I don't understand " , and no one makes fun of you or rolls their eyes, just explains the joke or pun or whatever, is very, very nice. --- rubenken2000 <rubenken@...> wrote: > I know. The first place I would start is by asking Dr. Filopovich's office if they know of any good pediatricians that they are comfortable with in Indianapolis. A lot of times they already have a working relationship with someone and will be happy to recommend them. Or you may ask your current pediatrician (if you are happy with them) if they know anyone there. If those don't work -- I think I would look on line -- find a pediatrician and call. Tell the office staff the situation and ask if the doctor could possibly give you a call so that you could chat BEFORE the move. I did that when I moved my parents to California. I knew the reputation of the clinic -- but not the doctor. So, I interviewed her on the telephone by simply asking for certain things -- recommendations for their traveling, etc. to see what her answers would be. I actually went with the first one I talked with because it felt like a good fit. You can tell a lot by how they communicate. And it's worked out great. Finally, pray, pray, pray! God will direct your path if you seek His guidance. In His service, dale

Guest guest
is doing well but Meredith got cellulitis again this week. She is on clinda and bactrim and I'm so thankful we're seeing Dr. F in 3 weeks because IVIG doesn't seem to be stopping the cellulitis cycle. Guest guest
, This recurrent cellulitis should put up red flags for Dr. F. I wonder what she thinks of Meredith's phagocyte function. Glad to know that you have an appt. soon. Take good care, Re: Moving is doing well but Meredith got cellulitis again this week. Guest guest
Thanks Dale. I actually heard back from at Cincinnati Children's and she's connected me with an infusion rep that calls on them but lives in Carmel (where we plan to move) and she has small kids so could help us find a pediatrician. She said she trusts her judgement and will be a big help. Our ped doesn't know anyone (we love him and he's going to be hard to replace) but he promised to ask around and help us out anyway he could. I'm plan on doing interviews before we get there - by phone and hopefully in person when we go to house hunt. God will provide, but it's hard to not be anxious about it! Thanks for all the support! Guest guest
Judy I am sorry to hear of your families' tough times. A similar situation recently happened to a friend of mine who has a 15 year old daughter with DS. One thing that she says helped was having a small party, (and I understand that is difficult also). She had cupcakes, snacky type stuff, and had a few friends of her daughter's over, having her daughter show the house, room, etc.. Her daughter was able to settle moreso after that, it gave her a way to understand better that the new house is home. Sharon Re: moving Vent away, Judy. Your story is all to familiar in these times. Guest guest
Shar  I will hope also that it was nothing . they did the same thing to me the first round but a few days later just as I was getting ready to load the truck with the big stuff my kids came out and found me blacked out in the truck box. needless to say I did not move any thing that time as I spent the rest of the time in the hospital and a bunch of my friends jumped in and with my sister who came for out of state moved my family in a day and half including setting every thing up in the house so all I had to do was put my play room together later ( the garage LOL) any hoot after a month or so things went back to normal and stayed that way for years. had a scare some months back but it turned out to be my meds and so they were changed and so far so good . just wish I had some dang energy as most days the littlest bit of work tiers me out so badly I feel like dropping and going to bed but i keep it to my self .
