Oh, dear. Humor is difficult to translate. It's a pun. In the U.S., we

have the expression, " Holding down the fort, " which means keeping

things at home safe in someone's absence. Since Scandanavia is known

for its fjords, and fjord sounds like fort, therefore a pun is made.

I know. In the interests of a humor opportunity too good to pass up, I

used " poetic license " to broaden from Sweden to Scandinavia.

This is one of the refreshing things about belonging

to this forum. I can't tell, often, what is a joke or

what is sarcasm or what is intended to be funny,

especially when it is written.

To be able to say, " I don't understand " , and no one

makes fun of you or rolls their eyes, just explains

the joke or pun or whatever, is very, very nice.

Does this mean you -- or is it Libby -- that is moving to

Austin? I ask because I have Austin and TX much on my mind, having

spent a wonderful most of my summer there. I seem to keep getting

'signs' about TX since returning - could this be yet another one?

That's me, e. Already told my cats to be ready to be wearing little

cowboy/girl hats and some boots. I'm getting signs, too, and they all say

Congratulations on the promotion. The first place I would start is by

asking Dr. Filopovich's office if they know of any good pediatricians

that they are comfortable with in Indianapolis. A lot of times they

already have a working relationship with someone and will be happy to

recommend them.

Or you may ask your current pediatrician (if you are happy with them) if

they know anyone there.

If those don't work -- I think I would look on line -- find a

pediatrician and call. Tell the office staff the situation and ask if

the doctor could possibly give you a call so that you could chat BEFORE

the move. I did that when I moved my parents to California. I knew

the reputation of the clinic -- but not the doctor. So, I interviewed

her on the telephone by simply asking for certain things --

recommendations for their traveling, etc. to see what her answers would

be. I actually went with the first one I talked with because it felt

like a good fit. You can tell a lot by how they communicate. And it's

worked out great.

Finally, pray, pray, pray! God will direct your path if you seek His

guidance.

In His service,

This recurrent cellulitis should put up red flags for Dr. F. I wonder what she

thinks of Meredith's phagocyte function. Glad to know that you have an appt.

Thanks Dale. I actually heard back from at Cincinnati Children's and

she's connected me with an infusion rep that calls on them but lives in Carmel

(where we plan to move) and she has small kids so could help us find a

pediatrician. She said she trusts her judgement and will be a big help.

Our ped doesn't know anyone (we love him and he's going to be hard to replace)

but he promised to ask around and help us out anyway he could. I'm plan on

doing interviews before we get there - by phone and hopefully in person when we

go to house hunt. God will provide, but it's hard to not be anxious about it!

Thanks for all the support!

Judy

I am sorry to hear of your families' tough times.

A similar situation recently happened to a friend of mine who has a 15 year old

daughter with DS. One thing that she says helped was having a small party, (and

I understand that is difficult also). She had cupcakes, snacky type stuff, and

had a few friends of her daughter's over, having her daughter show the house,

room, etc.. Her daughter was able to settle moreso after that, it gave her a

way to understand better that the new house is home.

as a person who has had chest pain before I can tell you do not play with it

get it checked out NOW! it may be nothing or it maybe some thing but that is

some thing only a doctor can tell you! I know that stress of moving can do it

and it has with me in the past but i also know one time i ended up in the ER

because of it not a heart attack but with the start of congestive heart failure

called paracditis the swelling around the heart as in the fluid sack so get up

go in and NOW find out what it is and then do what the docs tell you no GUESSING

round but a few days later just as I was getting ready to load the truck with

the big stuff  my kids came out and found me blacked out in the truck box.

needless to say I did not move any thing that time as I spent the rest of the

time in the hospital and a bunch of my friends jumped in and with my sister who

came for out of state moved my family in a day and half including setting every

thing up in the house so all I had to do was put my play room together later (

the garage LOL) any hoot after a month or so things went back to normal and

stayed that way for years. had a scare some months back but it turned out to be

my meds and so they were changed and so far so good . just wish I had some dang

energy as most days the littlest bit of work tiers me out so badly I feel like

everything, and my husband is

done with work until we move, I still have chest pain, but I'm on pain meds, the

other thing is my joints are now acting up, I'm haveing a hard time moving
