Guest guest
Hello At the airport, they searched my trunk and the backseat before letting me into the parkade. Another difference was that they made me take my laptop out of the bag and put it through the X-ray separately, they also made me put my wallet and keys through the X-ray instead of justing handing it around the metal detector. The metal detector didn't pick up on my belt buckle, my medic alert bracelet or the steel arches in my runners, all three of those set off Canadian metal detectors even before the disaster. The flight was delayed two hours, most flights were delayed two hours but that was because of the weather, there was a thunderstorm so we sat out on the tarmac waiting for clearance to take off. When the storm lifted, we had to wait more because planes running low on fuel had priority to land. Otherwise, the flight went well, I was upgraded to first class and they actually had a first class low sodium meal for me for a change. Sure enough, they used plastic knifes with the usual metal cutlery. The plane did not have the equipment to show a movie in first class though and I'm a bit surprised that they didn't hand out newspapers like they normally do. Everyone up here in Canada has been running their heat a little lower ever since last year's spike in energy prices so it's a bit on the cold side, but as long as you're bundled up it's still quite pleasant. It's nice to have Thanksgiving when the leaves are still falling and the temperature during the day is still ok. I opted for the cake instead of the pumpkin pie this time because we were also celebrating my mother's and my younger sister's birthdays. If it wasn't for winters, you wouldn't have fuzzy robes, just light linen robes. Regards, son wrote: > Happy Thanksgiving to & all in Canada! > > , eat pumpkin pie without the crust, all you want. Guest guest
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you south of the 49th. We in Canada had our Thanksgiving last month, but we are thinking of you and wishing you well. By the way - those stretchy pants you wear for Thanksgiving dinner - they are called " turkey pants " , at least by those of us who save them just to wear for the special dinner. Have a happy!!! Guest guest
Dearest Beth, I am so happy to read that you are feeling pretty well!! Also happy your dad is still beating the Cancer. Your mom's blood pressurehigher than it should be...that is one battle I also am having. I switched from reg. coffe to decaf a few weeks ago, and then Caroline sends the e-mail that reads *both* are bad! Can't win sometimes. Have a great Thaksgiving and rest of 2002, and hopefully an even *better* 2003! Take care friend! Love & hugs! Tricia -- Happy Thanksgiving I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving- I have so much to be thankful for, and one big spot on my list belongs to the members of our Still's Family. Just an update, overall I have been feeling pretty well in regard to the Still's. I don't really know if it is a remission, or some of the extra things I have been able to add during the year - exercise, eating differently, etc. I have had a wicked respiratory virus for about 3 weeks now, so all of you be careful and wash your hands very well when you are out and about! My Dad is doing well, he has been off chemo since early August, although he may have to go back on in December. There are two areas of suspicious regrowth they are looking at and will check again Dec. 12th. My Mom is doing well, although battling her high blood pressure a little right now, but hopefully that will straigten out soon. Everyone take care and enjoy the holiday! A very special thanks goes to Bob and Carole for their extreme involvement in our group and for Jay as well, thank you so much for running the website and email group- we are truly blessed to have you! Love, Beth
Guest guest
Dear Sue & Al, there is not a day that goes by that I do not think about you. You have both touched my life very dearly. Al...I am so sorry for what you are going through. This is so much and if I could just relieve some of the pain for you, I would do so in a minute. My thoughts are with you friend. I care about you deeply, and we just love the both of you so much. May angels keep you safe friend. Thinking of you both on Thanksgiving! With much, much love and good spirits. Love,Sue #2 -- Happy Thanksgiving To All Our Still's family, A very warm and blessed thanksgiving, Al is not doing too well, we were talking last night and he said that in all he has so much to be thankful for. He has had 3 birthdays Nov. 24, 3 Thanksgivings, 3 Christmas's, walked both daughter's down the ailse, watched his youngest graduate from Berekely, precious time spent with his 3 grandson's and just as special, Meeting people from his Still's family. There is not a day that he doesn't mention you all. He unfortunately is not much of one for computers. He is however working on a Christmas message to you all and possibly a tape I can send to whoever would like one. My prayer is to have another 3 years with him, but I treasure each day in the meantime. We love all of you, and hope each moment spent is as wonderful as it can be. Guest guest
Ya Trish I can remember how bad it was too well was only little over year for me.The not being able to lift a fork brought memories for me too,but in my case it was a 's soup can which was what I used for rehabilitation lol.You have a happy thanksgiving I already did lol we celebrate it earlier ehh. d.Canada Happy Thanksgiving Hi Everyone, Reading thru the posts tonight, for some reason I was reminded of the first Thanksgiving after I got sick. The memory is so vivid....I remember sitting at my mom's dining room table, trying so hard to eat my meal and appear "ok" (even though I was running fevers of 102-104 at the time). I only lasted a few minutes, didn't even have the energy to lift the silverware and eat. I had to go back to bed. I was absolutely crushed, and can't imagine how hard it was on my family as well. Anyway, my point to all this - 13 years later, I can do a good deal of complaining (and whining) about how I feel. While 13 years ago, I couldn't even lift a fork - today I went shopping for a few hours with a friend and pushed her 2-year-old in a stroller the whole time. And tomorrow I hope to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving with my family, including my new 6-month-old nephew. Thinking back made me realize how much I have improved. Maybe I should quit whining for a while. Or, at least for Thanksgiving Day :-) Also, to all those who aren't doing so well right now, you are in my thoughts and prayers. And, while I know it is sometimes impossible to believe that things will improve, keep just a little spot for hope in your heart. For me, it took longer than I ever thought to get to this point and my life is certainly not what I had planned it to be right now. But, for whatever reason, I just suddenly realized I do have an awful lot to be grateful for - including this great group of online friends!! Happy Thanksgiving! Guest guest
Dear & Ann, Happy to hear your hips are still doing okay since the anesthesia Ann. Please do have a great time on your trip, and we will miss you! We look forward to reading all about it. Love & hugs, and a safe trip there & back to you both! Tricia (Wisconsin) -- Happy Thanksgiving Dear Stilligans,I wanted to wish everyone who is celebrating Thanksgiving a very happy and healthy one. The holiday season is begining and we all need to remember to listen to our bodies and not overdo it. We can't do everything for everyone. We must take help from wherever we can get it, especially if we are in pain.I am very lucky and for the past month have had minimal pain. The bursitis of my hips hasn't returned (knock wood) since I went under the anesthesia and I am walking 100% better. I have been trying to build my strength and endurance for this trip to Thailand and Cambodia as there is a lot of walking involved if I want to see everything. I think I am as ready as I will ever be and that is good as we leave tommorow.Once again take care all and try to have less and less pain each and every dayAnn KVisiting in Bellevue, WA (and soon to be in Bangkok, Thailand). ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
