Guest guest
My dermatologist said that he thinks my internal skin stuff is not bird mites anymore. Who know s! I had these black skinny things come out of my skin the other day then slide back in when I used menthol shampoo and sprayed alcohol. what do you think? I did not see any tails. Also, I used the permethrin cream for the second time. Little black specks came to the surface (with tiny hairs or legs. Some were grayish and looked like the fuzz I used to find on my sheets/mattress cover... Mites? Fungus? Mold? I thought when you use permethrin cream the mites die internally. The dermatologist thinks we still have mites in the incitement too (of course we do!) And says we should get a pest co. to treat again. Has anyone sprinkled the DE earth in their floor cracks? We could do it when we are away for a week around the holidays. Then clean it up before my son comed back home. What about nylar or other IGR's? Guest guest
Thanks linda! I'd love to use Bill's method of spraying everything down, but I think it would ruin most of our stuff at this point. Not that we have a lot. I just use his suggestions on a smaller scale. Here's something funny...we had ants in our apartment the other day and a pest guy came in...ordered by building management! He looked at our lack of furniture and bins piled high in the living room (really our apartment is only 1 room, plus bed and bath). I said I heard there were bed bugs in the buildings and I can't be too careful (of course just an excuse!) He said our apartment was a dream for pest people...so easy to get rid of bugs when there is no clutter!! If only he could understand!!! I am thinking from what you saw, unless you put it under scope, most likely fungal related. Are you taking antifungals? Mites that are internal do not die from Permithrin applied to the skin. Krys mentioned yesterday that birdmites are highly resistant to miticides. So they would be resistant to Permithrin too which is a miticide. Initially there may be a slight die off with Permithrin on the skin level only for a few days. We found relief for maybe 2 days after applying it numerous times, but the relief was short lived. Perhaps it is because these do become internal and can easily hide during the day. We had no luck with PCOs at all. I never tried Nylar... others here did, so maybe they will comment. I think Marie did use it. Guest guest
Thanks cecilia! Good to know it didn't affect your 1 year old when you used it. He is my greatest concern when using all these substances to clean/kill the mites. We can order the IGR online and do it ourselves. I don't think it is too difficult according to the Shanspirations blog. It seems the biting has quieted down a bit for me now. Maybe it's all these vitamins and supplements I'm taking...? Guest guest
A pic line is a port line permanently installed in the body (upper arm or chest I saw), almost like an IV would be put in - and medications are put directly into the pic line. I've been going and will go tonight to the East Bay Lyme Disease Group - a HUGE group, MANY of the people there have pic lines. It is more expensive to do IV medications for Lyme, can be very effective. My doctor never suggested it with me and since insurance doesn't pay for any of my meds I haven't asked her about a pic line. From: "Elissa " <elissarachel@...>bird mites Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2011 7:02:26 AMSubject: Re: Something else... Guest guest
Yes, I want to spread it out so you cannot actually see it as I'm living at my parent's house. I still don't know what I will do with my condo. I wished I had used DE there, but don't know if that would have worked or not. I get depressed thinking about the things I've lost, etc., and what I've been through, but at least here I have a bed to sleep in with sheets and blankets, towels in the bathroom to dry off with. I hope things continue to get better. I still feel occasional tiny bites here too, but I think the DE will help. I don´t know if that is what we have after the birdmites, but Aandraya has a lot to tell about those things. An IGR is good so try that, but be out of the house for 8 hours afterwards for safety. Hope it succeeds and that you find a LLD doctor to check you up:) Take care!Cecilia From: Elissa <elissarachel@...>bird mites Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2011 4:02 PMSubject: Re: Something else... Guest guest
Thanks Cecilia. I have an LLD appointment soon. I think I've had Lyme since childhood, and it's been misdiagnosed for decades. I think that if we didn't get the bird mite infestation, I would still not have figured it out. I guess something good came out of the mite mare! On Nov 21, 2011 10:11 AM, " Cecilia Borg " <ceciliaborg@...> wrote: Hi, Elissa!Great with your appointment, and that she knew about lyme. I don´t know if that is what we have after the birdmites, but Aandraya has a lot to tell about those things. An IGR is good so try that, but be out of the house for 8 hours afterwards for safety. Hope it succeeds and that you find a LLD doctor to check you up:) Take care!Cecilia From: Elissa <elissarachel@...> bird mites Sent: Thursday, November 17, 2011 4:02 PM Subject: Re: Something else... Thanks cecilia! Good to know it didn't affect your 1 year old when you used it. He is my greatest...
